Hosted in the temperate nation of Qatar, the 2022 World Cup is set to launch on Nov. 21. through Dec. 18, the international football tournament will be hosted in the Middle East for the first time in history. As eager fans of football in Hong Kong, we give you the low down for where to catch every World Cup match in the city.


The Globe

Catch all games landing from 6PM to 3AM at Hong Kong’s cosy gastropub, home to modern British plates and a craft beer menu hosting dozens of local and international breweries. With more than half a dozen TVs to catch the games, visible from a wide projector and cushioned seating area to bar and picnic table-style seating.

Delaney’s

Opening some 28 years ago, Delaney’s was Hong Kong’s first pub to serve draught pints of Guinness. With branches in Tsim Sha Tsui, Wan Chai, and Cyberport, catch live replays of all games shown on projectors with a live kitchen open till late.

Trafalgar

Open and showing all games live as they play, Trafalgar is a welcoming sports bar and restaurant with an outdoor balcony area to boot. Right in the heart of Wan Chai, it lies a little above the rest of the Lockhart Road strip to provide a little sense of privacy. And when your home team scores? There’s a karaoke machine at the ready to help you sing victory songs to celebrate.

The CODE

Sit back and cheer on as the world cup gets blasted in clearer-than-crystal 4K quality across a 250-inch Epson projector. Broadcasting all games between 6PM to 2AM, The CODE are offering footie fans a special 10 day discount on selected drinks that are priced at only HK$60.

Cali-Mex

Inspired by the diverse national flags of participating countries, Mexican chain Cali-Mex have created the limited edition Nachos of the World Cup menu to accompany this season of international matches. For supporters of England there is the Three Lions nachos layered in British cheddar cheese, bacon, baked beans, and a fried egg, reminiscent of the classic full English. Whilst fans of Spain can enjoy the La Roja with jamón ibérico, chorizo, refried beans, and roasted bell peppers. More delicious snacks and some fun cocktails await, along with drinks specials that include a Budweiser bucket (HK$240) and buy-one-get-one-free on Minuty Rosé. Let it all pour down with HK$240 towers of Stella Artois that fill up to two-litres.

Games will be shown at 6PM, 9PM, and Midnight across the Cali-Mex locations in Stanley, Sai Ying Pun, and Discovery Bay. Eager fans can also book out the venues for private viewing parties of 3AM games.

Rula Live

The centre of live entertainment and sports in Hong Kong, Rula Live is set to preview all games from 6PM to 2AM including a majority of group games, round of 16, quarterfinals and semi-finals, as well as the finals set for Dec. 18.

Sino Malls

In a celebration of the big international football celebration, Sino Malls is to return with the “Goal Together” campaign, installing three massive new TVs at Sino Malls’ Olympian City, tmtplaza, and Citywalk malls to broadcast all 64 games for free. Two 430-inch TVs at Olympian City are set to usher in crowds on the artificial lawn at the Central Atrium, whilst the city’s largest 4K TV in a local mall clocks in at 540 inches and lies in tmtplaza.

Now TV and ViuTV

If you prefer to stay in with friends and family, you will be able catch all games in 4K definition on Now TV and ViuTV. As exclusive broadcasters of the World Cup in Qatar, you can catch the opening match on Nov. 31, group matches, round of 16, and quarterfinals, semi-finals, 3rd place match, and final on Now TV.

ViuTV will broadcast 19 selected matches live, including the opening match, the two semi-finals and the final.
