Bye Algorithm: This Ride-Hailing App Allows Passengers to Propose Fares
Heads up, commuters! Global mobility and urban services platform inDrive is set to expand to the Philippines within the end of the year. Based in California, the company aims to revolutionize the transportation market and challenge the dominance of Grab as the top ride-hailing app in the country.
Following a “people-driven” approach, the app allows passengers to propose the fare for their ride and drivers to accept, decline, or suggest a counteroffer without penalties. Fares won’t depend on an algorithm, providing transparency to all app users and making commuting more budget friendly.
“Ride-hailing services are not just a matter of convenience, but a necessity. As the world returns to its busy state, moving around can be a challenge, particularly for people who do not own vehicles. We hope to ease this burden, while providing opportunities for drivers to earn more,” inDrive founder and CEO Arsen Tomsky said.
According to inDrive Philippines, the company has already applied for a ride-hailing license and is expecting to receive it shortly.
Launched in 2013, inDrive is the second-largest ridesharing app (based on downloads) worldwide, with operations in 614 cities across 47 countries.
