Immersing oneself in the local community while traveling is difficult, especially with an unwritten “boundary” that shouldn’t be crossed. James Montenegro, Country Manager of Chroma Hospitality, said that their goal as hotel operators is to break those boundaries to let the community know that people want to learn more about them and to respect them.
“That’s what we’re trying to do at Grafik,” he said. “Our goal is to collaborate with the communities and to bring out different things that have not been done.”

The Grafik Hotel Collection is set to open four unique properties across the Philippines — in Baguio, Moalboal, Duawon, and Dauin. According to James Montenegro, these destinations were chosen accordingly to align with Grafik’s vision: immersing guests in the signature experiences of each setting.
“When you look at it, there’s a big experiential gap,” said James Montenegro. “In Dauin, we’re focusing on perfecting the diving experience — bringing it up to par with all the others around the country. In Moalboal, it’s about curating the Northern Cebu journey — from canoeing and the sardine run, to hiking Osmeña peak, and even traditional basket weaving. It’s how we curate those experiences for customers that will make it more memorable, to bring out the soul of the destination.”
