Clara Benin, the Philippines’ indie darling, is set to return to the big stage with a two-night concert at the Manila Metropolitan Theater (MET) on October 3 and 4, 2025.
Titled “Born on a Rainy Night,” the special show marks the 10th anniversary of her debut album “Human Eyes” and EP “Riverchild”—the two releases that defined Clara’s voice in the Philippineindie music scene, as well as shaped the sound of Filipino indie music today.
Reimagined with a 30-piece orchestra and musicaldirection byRia Villena-Osorio, the performances promise a fresh, cinematic take on Clara Benin’s contemplative early records. Presented by minsan studio, the concert offers fans an intimate space to hear Clara Benin’s music with lush arrangements and cinematic storytelling.
Courtesy of Clara Benin
“’Human Eyes’ and ‘Riverchild’ both came out in 2015, which was ten years ago now, and that honestly feels surreal to say out loud,” Clara shares. “To celebrate, I’m working on a special concert with minsan studio where I’ll be performing songs from those records but reimagined with an orchestra. It’s something I’ve always dreamed of doing, and getting to do it for this show makes it even more meaningful.”
“Born on a Rainy Night: Celebrating 10 Years of Human Eyes and Riverchild” is envisioned as both cinematic and intimate, a moment to reflect on where the songs began, and how they’ve grown through the years.
“It’s not necessarily leading into a new release; maybe something will come out of it, maybe it won’t,” she adds. “But it definitely feels like a bridge between the past and the future. Working on these arrangements has been grounding and it’s given me a clearer sense of where I want to go next.”
About the concert’s creative direction, minsan studio CEO Jason Conanan says that Clara and the team first went back to the songs, the feelings, the time and place where they were first written. “It was important to stay true to those emotions, while allowing the music to grow with who Clara is now.”
