MSCHF to Auction Its Microscopic Louis Vuitton Handbag

MSCHF Unveils Louis Vuitton Bag That’ll Make You Squint Your Eyes

Headline-grabbing creative group MSCHF, the brains behind the viral Big Red Boots, is back with another scene-stealer creation. This time, it comes in the form of a bag that you would otherwise mistake for a crumb or speck of dust if not for its fluorescent shade.

Described by the collective as “smaller than a grain of sea salt and narrow enough to pass through the eye of a needle,” the bag measures only 657 x 222 x 700 micrometers. It also takes the image of a Louis Vuitton OnTheGo bag, except it’s extremely tiny.

“There are big handbags, normal handbags, and small handbags, but this is the final word in bag miniaturization. As a once-functional object like a handbag becomes smaller and smaller its object status becomes steadily more abstracted until it is purely a brand signifier,” the label said in an Instagram post.

The new handbag fares as a complete opposite of some of MSCHF’s works so far, such as the “Big Red Boots” and “Big Fruit Loop,” which are both parody products that have much larger sizes than usual.

MCHF’s microscopic was made exclusively for Pharell’s “Just Phriends” Auction and will be up for bidding next week, along with a roster of luxury brands like Louis Vuitton itself.
