Go Meatless: Where to Order Vegan and Vegetarian Ramen in Bangkok

Go Meatless Where to Order Vegan and Vegetarian Ramen in Bangkok

Ramen is a Japanese noodle dish that almost everyone around the world loves. We say almost because it’s a dish that’s mainly served with pork broth, an ingredient vegans and vegetarians don’t eat.

But it’s not much of a problem anymore today as many ramen shops have adapted to this kind of diet. Whether you live in Bangkok or are visiting for a vacation, here’s where you can find vegan and vegetarian ramen in the city and start slurping.

Mensho Tokyo

Founded in 2005, Mensho Tokyo is a ramen chain from Japan by award-winning ramen master Tomoharu Shono. They’re known for using fresh seasonal ingredients that “come from the fields and seas” and producing new menu items each season.

They first opened a branch in Bangkok in 2018, which has been their only outlet in the country ever since. If you’re looking for something vegan or vegetarian on the menu, you can order their Vegan Tantanmen (THB385), which gives off a hint of local flavours and a generous serving of toppings, such as edamame, menma, sakura smoked nuts, and green onions. While you’re at it, you can also order their Enoki Chips (THB135), which is made of enoki mushrooms.

Location: Mensho Tokyo, 571 RSU Tower, Room G-03, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok

Yuzu Ramen

Part of the Yuzu Group of restaurants, Yuzu Ramen is Thailand’s first 100% authentic yuzu-infused ramen. Imported from Fukuoka, Japan, they redefine Bangkok’s “generic ramen scene” by introducing intense flavours using premium ingredients, including citrus fruit, from around the world.

For those looking to eat a vegan or vegetarian noodle dish, the restaurant only has one on the menu: the Vegetarian Ramen (THB320), which you can order in thin or thick noodles and ask for a spicy level (from 25% to 200%) that you can handle.

If you want to order something else apart from ramen, you check out the menu here.

Hideya Ramen

Established in 2011, Hideya Ramen is the first in Thailand to offer iekei-style ramen, a type of ramen invented in Yokohama consisting of thick, straight noodles and a soup based on tonkotsu shoyu (pork broth soy sauce). If you’re looking for a meatless ramen from them, you can try their Vegan “Tonkotsu” Ramen (THB220), which is made of a creamy broth using only vegetables and served with imported, torched Japanese tofu.

Location: Hideya Ramen, 1651 Sukhumvit Road, Phra Khanong Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok

Lust Ramen

Lust Ramen is most known for their mala (a spicy seasoning made of chilli and Sichuan peppercorn) dishes, particularly the Mala Ramen (THB219), which gives quite of a kick. For vegans and vegetarians, though, what you can order are their Vegan Tomato Ramen (THB149) and Vegan Mushroom Ramen (THB129), which are more on the lighter side.

The restaurant has branches in Stadium One, Silom, Donki Thonglor, One Udomsuk, Pradiphat, and Ari, so you’re sure to satisfy your cravings whichever neighbourhood you’re in. They also stay open a bit late (until 10 PM), so you don’t have to hurry and worry about closing time.
