Happy Pride!
It’s time to paint the town red as Bangkok Pride 2023 is happening on June 4. The press conference for the LGBTQ+ community parade, attended by Deputy Governor Sanon Wangsangboon, took place on Feb. 2 at Bangkok Art and Culture Center.
With the theme “Beyond…Gender,” Bangkok Pride 2023 aims to support and promote gender diversity. The parade will begin at Lumpini Park via Rajdamri to Central World from 2 PM-9 PM. Everyone is free to dress according to their preferred gender. The pride parade will run across 20 provinces in the kingdom, according to a press release from Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Data Center on Feb. 2.
As part of the celebration of love and pride, the event will also conduct an educational awareness campaign that will tap on social issues like gender identity recognition, marriage equality, and decriminalisation of sex work, as well as raising the standard of Naruemit Pride Bangkok to host the WorldPride that will be happening in 2027.
“At this year's Pride, we want to create and showcase gender diversity that goes beyond the gender framework for society to accept and support the legal recognition of gender identity for human dignity and the promotion of human rights,” the Bangkok Pride announced via its website.
Bangkok Pride 2023 is organised by the Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand and Community Pride in Pattaya and led by the Swing Foundation.
