In a fusion of heritage and glamour, the iconic Woo Cheong Pawn Shop in Wan Chai has been transformed into Sophia Loren Hong Kong, a multi-concept dining and entertainment venue. The historic building now features Casa Sophia Loren, a sophisticated Italian restaurant that celebrated its grand opening on April 29 this year.

Situated on the landmark building’s first floor, Casa Sophia Loren offers a terrace with views of the bustling Johnston Road tramway. The restaurant is designed to reflect the "dolce vita" of 1960s Rome, a period immortalized by filmmaker Federico Fellini. The interior, crafted by the renowned MAG Design Studio, features a palette of blue, white, and cream, evoking the Mediterranean's azure seas and is highlighted by striking Murano glass chandeliers.

The menu at Casa Sophia Loren pays tribute to Neapolitan culinary traditions, a nod to both Sophia Loren's heritage and the restaurant's cultural inspiration. Managed by Valentino Ugolini, formerly of Ciak in The Landmark, the restaurant promises a culinary journey with dishes like scampi tartare with foie gras, Amberjack carpaccio, and signature pastas like Burrata ravioli with eggplant cream.

The venue's design and menu are not just a celebration of Italian cuisine but also a tribute to the vibrant history of the Woo Cheong Pawn Shop building. With its elegant décor and premium seafood offerings, Casa Sophia Loren is setting a new standard for dining in Hong Kong, merging historical preservation with modern luxury dining.
