MO Bar’s ‘Master of Mixology’ Guest Shift Series to Take Over Hong Kong
Drink up, everyone! Hong Kong’s local bar scene is about to get more colourful as the Landmark Mandarin Oriental brings back its “Master of Mixology” Guest Shift Series to the iconic MO Bar in Hong Kong, set to be joined by the hotel’s bartenders coming from different Mandarin Oriental venues of the world.
Set to start this month until June, MO Bar, hosted by Daniel Valencia, the hotel’s Director of Mixology, is welcoming two bartenders each month to bring different cultures to deliver carefully crafted cocktails made by the bartenders paired with signature bites from their home bar.
Commencing on March 21 to 22, the guest shift series will start as Daniel welcomes Kengo Oda, the head bartender of Mandarin Bar in Tokyo, who will showcase his expertise in whisky and Japanese flavours through his innovative cocktails. Joining him will be Stefano Bussi, the head mixologist of Vida Rica Bar from the hotel’s Macau branch, bringing his Italian roots to the table.
The fun then will continue on April 25 to 26 with esteemed bartenders from its sister hotels, including Charlie Kim, a finalist of the Swiss Cocktail Open 2022 and Singapore’s bar manager renowned for his signature cognac-based and gin-based creations, along with Jason Huang, the Bartender of the Year from 2023 from That’s Lifestyle Awards, and Beijing’s head bartender, bringing his Chinese influence to his served cocktails.
Delighting the last guest shift are talented bartenders from China incorporating Chinese cultures into the heart of Hong Kong as Daniel invites Tiger Chang, the director of beverage at Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen, and Roddick Ye, manager of The Loft at the Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou. Together, they will present curated drinks, each showcasing their unique expertise. The last night will surely offer a wide array of flavours to enjoy.
