Where to find the Juiciest Dumpling in Hong Kong

Editor's Note: Some data below may or may not be accurate due to the ongoing pandemic. Before you travel, it is best to check Hong Kong’s guidelines to get the most updated information.
One of the most popular Asian dishes across the world is dumplings. Originated in China, these small masses wrapped in a soft dough can be eaten fried, steamed, or boiled. In most Asian countries, dumplings are best dipped in oyster sauce and vinegar mixed with garlic.
A standard dumpling is made from wheat-based flour but if you prefer to consume gluten-free dumplings, you can also try the tapioca flour-based Vietnamese Bánh bột lọc or the Indian modak made from rice flour.
There are different kinds of dumplings available in the market which vary from soup-filled, ground meat with vegetables, sweetened flavor, and solid dumplings (without any fillings).
How to make Hong Kong Dumplings?
The main ingredients include flour, salt, and water. To make the perfect dumpling dough, you’ll need 2 2/3 cups of flour and ¾ cup of warm water to get the soft dumpling wrapper texture and achieve a substantial elasticity.
While rolling out the dough, it is also important to create the sizes equally. To do so, you may weigh each dough skin (preferably 9 to 10 grams per piece) before rolling it into a thinner skin. If you want to create bigger wrappers, you can experiment and pick a larger dough of approximately 12 to 16 grams.
Moreover, you can make dumplings more flavorful with these fillings:
- Beef
- Chicken
- Carrot
- Lamb
- Pork
- Shrimp (dried or fresh)
- Spinach
