Hong Kong Hosts Second Global Financial Leaders' Investment Summit
The second Global Financial Leaders' Investment Summit in Hong Kong is set to take place from Nov. 7 to 8, 2023. Anticipated to attract around 300 industry leaders, the summit will feature more than 90 group chairmen or CEOs from top financial institutions worldwide.
This diverse gathering will represent various sectors, including banks, securities firms, asset owners, asset managers, private equity and venture capital firms, hedge funds, and insurers. Esteemed panellists and moderators include key players such as James Gorman of Morgan Stanley, Jin Su of Bank of America’s APAC office, Jon Gray of Blackstone, Standard Chartered’s Bill Winters, HSBC Group Chief Noel Quinn, and many more.
This year's Global Financial Leaders Main Summit is scheduled for Nov. 7, followed by an investment forum jointly organised by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), the Securities and Futures Commission, and the Hong Kong Academy of Finance on the subsequent day.
Under the theme "Living with Complexity," speakers will delve into key trends and changes that have far-reaching implications for the financial sector. Topics of discussion will include macroeconomic challenges driven by weakening global growth, uncertain inflation trends, and tightening financial conditions. The summit will also address the latest industry developments and disruptions, exploring investment strategies to harness their potential.
Moreover, opportunities and challenges stemming from mega themes such as the China story, technology, and sustainable development will be explored. Prominent Mainland financial regulators have been invited to share insights on China's economy and policy outlook.
Extending the dialogue from the main summit, the "Conversations with Global Investors" investment forum on Nov. 8 will assemble leading investors from around the world. They will share insights on investment strategies, asset allocation, and structural issues that are shaping long-term investments. These include demographic shifts, geopolitical developments, ESG objectives, as well as technological innovation.
In addition to the Summit, the HKMA will co-host the HKMA-BIS High-Level Conference from Nov. 27 to 28. Marking the HKMA's 30th anniversary this year, this event offers an opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments of the HKMA and Hong Kong's financial sector over the past three decades, as well as the promising prospects that lie ahead.
