KL Alternative Bookfest 2023 to Bring Indie Books to Central Market

Almost done with your stack of unread books? It’s time to head over to Kuala Lumpur Alternative Bookfest (KLAB) 2023 this Feb. 23 to 26 to find a new good read!

Now on its 14th edition, KLAB 2023 is happening at Central Market Kuala Lumpur in Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock (Foch Avenue) to bring together local independent publishers, bookshops, and readers.

There will be an art lane space and up to 36 vendor stalls taking over the ground floor of the venue. These include Bundusan Books, Dubook, Gerak Budaya, Hikayat Fandom, Ilham Books, Inisiatif Buku Darul Ehsan (IBDE), Karangkraf, Pelita Dhihin, Riwayat Bookshop, and many more.

Visitors can enjoy different genres and titles, such as biographies, fictional works, journals, and graphic novels. The local poetry and fanzine scene will also be present. While the focus of the event is on contemporary Bahasa Malaysia language books, there will still be vendors offering English books.

Film viewings, talks, and workshops with authors and industry professionals will be part of the programme.

Organised by Jejak Tarbiah, The Patriots Asia, and Buku Fixi, the event will open from 10 AM to 8 PM.
