DOLE to Hold Nationwide Job Fairs This May to Further PH Employment

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is set to lead a slew of activities for the month of May, the first day of which is celebrated in the country as Labor Day.

To mark the 121st Labor Day, DOLE will be holding three major events, the first one being the Kadiwa ng Pangulo Para sa Manggagawa, as per a press release by the agency on April 11. This is an initiative by the Department of Agriculture for the benefit of agricultural workers. Farmers may sell their quality produce directly to consumers without any middlemen so they can earn higher earnings.

DOLE will also hold the distribution of government aid, such as the payout of assistance and salaries to the beneficiaries of various programs. These include the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program, the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), and the Government Internship Program (GIP).

The third event will be a series of job fairs across the country to help facilitate employment. These job fairs will be held in different SM and Robinsons malls in different regions, with the main job fair location situated in the capital.

As early as now, DOLE is advising jobseekers to prepare their application requirements for the job fair. These include one's resume or curriculum vitae, a certificate of employment for those who have been employed before, a college diploma, and a transcript of records.

The Department of Tourism (DOT), in partnership with DOLE, will also launch the third phase of its "Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso" job fair on May 11, as per a report by INQUIRER.net on April 6. During the second leg of the job fair in March, the government offered over 8,000 tourism-related employment opportunities to job seekers.

Since its launch in September 2022, the "Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso" program of DOT and DOLE has provided 16,485 job opportunities.
