‘Squid Game: Unleashed’ Announces New Games and Character Skins

“Squid Game” fans are about to experience the Netflix hit series on a whole new level as "Squid Game: Unleashed” gets an upgrade!
“Squid Game: Unleashed” is the definitive video game inspired by the streaming platform’s most-watched series ever. Since its release last Dec. 17, it soared to the top of the charts and became the number one "Top Free Action Game" in 57 countries and the number one "Top Free Game" in 24 countries. The heart-pounding multiplayer battle royale game allows players to take on deadly challenges and games inspired by classic childhood activities as seen in the series.
“Squid Game is Netflix’s most-watched series ever, and we want everyone around the world to be able to take part in its return by making 'Unleashed' available to everyone, which is a first for Netflix Games,” said Alain Tascan, President, Games at Netflix. “Squid Game: Unleashed is all about playing with (or against) your friends in the iconic games from the series like Glass Bridge and Red-Light Green Light, so we’re inviting everyone into the chaos this holiday season.”
Following the release of the series’ second season, the game creators are introducing new characters and games from the new episodes.
From Jan. 3, you can play the Mingle-inspired “Scary-go-round, Carousel Dodge, and Manic Mixer.” This new game was inspired by one of the most memorable new games in Season 2 where players had to race to find safe rooms before the timer ran out.
There’s also a game event called “Dalgona Mash-Up Collection Event” where players can unlock three Mingle-inspired games and a Dalgona tin collection event starting with an exclusive Season 2 character reward: Geum-Ja (Player 149), until Jan. 9.
On the 9th, “Thanos’ Red Light Challenge” will start where you can use knives to eliminate other players in-game to collect points towards unlocking an exclusive Season 2 character: Thanos (Player 230).
By the end of the event on Jan. 16, a new character will also be available to play: Yong-Sik (Player 007), the debt-ridden son of Geum-Ja from Season 2.

The game is free to play regardless of your subscription status for a limited time. However, once the limited period ends, you’ll have to sign up to be a member. Netflix members have some serious perks as they can access the “Watch Along” feature that gives players in-game rewards for every episode they complete. The more you watch, the more rewards you can earn. So, if you binge the entire season, you will receive not only in-game cash, which can be used to purchase items or player skins, but a special “Binge Watcher” skin to show off to other players. Talk about bragging rights!
You can also get the chance to snag “Wild Tokens” which are chances to spin the in-game wheel for more prizes! Here’s a definitive list of rewards for each episode completed:
- Reward 1: Get 15,000 Cash free.
- Reward 2: Watch Episode 1 and earn 20 Wild Tokens.
- Reward 3: Watch Episode 2 and earn 20,000 Cash.
