Delish Sips: Simply Analog by Tin Box, Thonglor’s New Vinyl Bar
Simply Analog Feature Photo by The Beat Asia

Bar History

Founded in 2018, Tin Box Group is a vibrant multi-concept lifestyle brand based in Singapore, fueled by a deep passion for vinyl records, turntables, and the universal language of music. Their journey commenced with Tin Box Retroholics, a haven for vinyl enthusiasts that seek to revive the electrifying spirit of the 80s club scene. With resident DJs spinning nostalgic tracks and an atmosphere brimming with retro beats, Retroholics quickly transformed into a cool hangout spot for all music aficionados, cultivating a dedicated community of retro and vinyl junkies.

Tin Box Group has been expanding its vibrant portfolio of live entertainment venues and restaurants across the Asia-Pacific region, with notable locations across Asia-Pacific including Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and China. Now, the group has finally made its debut in Thailand. Slowly, this music-centric lifestyle brand is steadily carving out its global identity, transcending borders to create exceptional musical experiences that resonate deeply.

Simply Analog by Tin Box

Simply Analog, the latest concept from Tin Box, is a sophisticated vinyl and cocktail bar where the magic of music takes center stage. Nestled in the heart of Thonglor — the most dynamic neighborhood in Bangkok — Simply Analog marks Tin Box Group’s inaugural venture into the Thai market. This enchanting space masterfully blends nostalgic charm with modern flair, bringing vinyl culture back into the limelight while adding its own delightful twist.

What’s the Vibe and Venue Like

It's a cozy spot where the warm crackle of vinyl records blends seamlessly with expertly crafted cocktails and engaging conversations — where music and mixology dance together in perfect harmony.

At Simply Analog, the timeless allure of vinyl meets a vibrant, contemporary ambiance. The inviting two-story haven, complete with funky bar stools and whimsical seating nooks, provides that perfect backdrop for couples and friends looking to share stories and sip on tasty concoctions.

As you step in, the vibrant neon lights interplay with soft, dim lighting, creating an eclectic ambiance that evokes an irresistibly quirky and playful mood at the bar. The inviting wooden tables, plush dark green velvety sofas, and elegant chic stools come together to foster a laid-back, homey atmosphere.

Guests can enjoy nightly hip-hop and R&B sets courtesy of both local and international guest DJs. They play curated sets from pure vinyl records, as well as digitally coded vinyl known as Serato vinyl, since much of the music they showcase is not available on physical vinyl records. Meanwhile, you can sip on signature cocktails while soaking up the soulful atmosphere. Plus, the stylish corners adorned with snazzy artworks on the walls provide a perfect backdrop for those must-have Instagram shots.

How Much are the Drinks

The bar offers a variety of handcrafted cocktails, as well as champagne, sparkling wine, and beer. If you're in the mood for something non-alcoholic, coffee and juice are also available.

Cocktails are priced at THB300 per glass. You can enjoy red or white wine for THB350 per glass, or choose from their limited bottle options such as Koonungahill Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon for THB1,500 and Penfolds Bin 23 Pinot Noir for THB3,000, if you're seeking red wine. For white wine, Koonungahill Chardonnay is available for THB1,500 and Penfolds Bin 51 Riesling for THB2,600.

Please note that there is no food menu; however, they do provide complimentary crunchy Japanese rice crackers with your drinks.

What Food and Drinks Did We Get

For drinks, we tried three items on their cocktail menu. We sampled the 12” Watermelon, Rhythm & Blues, and Gin Ho Lim. Each was priced at THB300.

Simply Analog by Tin Box

12” Watermelon: Turning the perfect summer drink into a refreshing cocktail, 12” Watermelon is like an appetizer for the thirsty soul. Infused with rum, watermelon juice, lime juice, and soda, along with mint leaves, it delivers a light and herbaceous flavor. Each sip bursts with the luscious sweetness of watermelon, harmoniously intertwined with a refreshing herbal note that shouts summer vibes. This revitalizing drink is a playful twist on classic watermelon mojitos, making it the perfect choice for those who crave a refreshing cocktail without overwhelming intensity.

Rhythm & Blues: If you cherish your tea, think your afternoon tea ritual just got a boozy, whimsical upgrade with Rhythm & Blues. This exquisite cocktail features early grey-infused gin, swirled together with decadent raspberry sauce and a splash of zesty lemon juice, delivering a pleasant bergamot flavor — an elegant citrus note that hits the spot. To top it off, a frothy cloud of egg white adds a silky finish that feels like a hug in a glass. The botanicals in the gin flirt and dance with the delicate flavors of Earl Grey tea, making this drink as delicious as it is visually appealing.

Simply Analog by Tin Box

Gin Ho Lim: A smooth, lightly fizzy cocktail that awakens your senses and feels refreshing, like a gentle breeze. The Gin Ho Lim is a captivating fusion of genmaicha-infused gin, luscious passionfruit syrup, zesty lemon juice, aromatic rosemary, and refreshing tonic water. The nutty, toasty notes of the gin harmonize beautifully with the delicate floral sweetness of the passionfruit syrup. The splash of lemon juice adds the perfect tangy sourness. So, if you’re all about that perfect balance of sour meets sweet, this cocktail is a quintessential choice.

What We Liked

Simply Analog gives that TGIF kinda feeling, offering a chilled and inviting ambiance that is perfectly balanced — never too loud or overwhelming. Here, you can watch the bartenders as they work their magic, conjuring up tasty concoctions while you sip and soak in the eclectic tunes.

This bar charmingly evokes the nostalgia of vinyl, all within a stylish, contemporary space. The cocktails are refreshingly uncomplicated, showcasing ingredients that amplify their quirky flavors. The 12” Watermelon stands out as a go-to drink, ideal for helping you settle in, relax, and unleash engaging conversations. If you’re in the mood for a fun twist, Rhythm & Blues packs a zesty punch with its whimsical fusion of botanical and juniper notes.

What We Didn’t Like

One notable drawback is the absence of food options; this means you’ll either need to dine beforehand or plan to enjoy a few drinks before heading out for dinner. A thoughtfully curated snack menu would greatly enhance the experience, as many patrons relish the combination of drinks and light bites. The interplay of flavors and textures can elevate the enjoyment of the evening — not everyone is a fan of Japanese crackers.

While I understand that the bar is still in its early days, introducing a wider array of cocktail selections would be a satisfying addition.

What You Should Order

Simply Analog by Tin Box
Courtesy of Simply Analog

More of a fruity cocktail person? Definitely get the 12” Watermelon because it's a tropical delight that’s refreshing, light, and irresistibly easy to sip.

For those who prefer spirit-forward drinks with a robust experience, the Singapore Sling is your companion. It’s a delightful mix of gin, dom, cherry liqueur, pineapple juice, grenadine syrup, and soda that gives the extra oomph. Sweet, fruity, and just a tad cheeky.

Also, nothing beats the classic taste of cucumber paired with the earthy allure of mezcal — it’s naturally cooling and refreshing. El Pepino has a subtly sweet, vegetal note that dances on your palate, followed by a clean, grassy aroma. Crafted with mezcal, fresh cucumber juice, lime juice, and a touch of sugar syrup, each sip is reminiscent of a cucumber margarita — sweet and slightly tangy — minus the salty rim, of course.

And if you’re a whiskey aficionado and you enjoy something with depth and profound character, the Trap is sure to impress. This cocktail is a rich, velvety concoction made with bourbon, zesty lemon juice, brown sugar syrup, Angostura bitters, and egg white.

LUZ ROOFTOP BAR Photo by LUZ Bangkok Tapas Bar

Restaurant Story

Established in 2023, LUZ Bangkok Tapas Bar stands out as a premier two-story venue within INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit, nestled in the vibrant On Nut neighborhood. This area is not widely known for rooftop bars, making LUZ a rare and captivating tapas bar experience in this trendy locale.

Spearheaded by the talented Chef de Cuisine Laia Ferrer, the bar artfully merges Barcelona’s rich culinary traditions with the bold flavors of Thai ingredients, creating an appealing dining experience that resonates with local tastes. In a remarkably short time, LUZ has become synonymous with exceptional Spanish cuisine infused with modern innovation, making it the go-to spot for authentic Spanish tapas, creative cocktails, and enjoying the city's stunning skyline views

Perched on the 33rd and 34th floors of INNSiDE by Meliá Bangkok Sukhumvit, LUZ Bangkok Tapas Bar presents an enticing urban oasis in the heart of On Nut. This vibrant rooftop bar exudes an intimate charm and playful energy, making it an ideal destination for unwinding with friends and family or enjoying a romantic evening with a partner.

The venue features two spacious areas: the 33rd floor showcases a striking tapas bar, designed with bold angled lines and cabling that pay homage to the iconic Rama VIII Bridge. The upper-level extension on the 34th floor includes the enchanting LUZ terrace, where you’ll find a stylish pool bar, an infinity pool, and a rooftop terrace outfitted with luxurious outdoor lounges and sunbeds.

The tapas bar boasts plush, cozy seating arrangements indoors, perfect for rainy days. Meanwhile, electric neon blue tones, complemented by soft lighting at the tapas bar, create a chic and sophisticated ambiance. The sleekly designed bar is an inviting spot to enjoy your favorite cocktails and taste delightful bites while overlooking the sunset as it transitions into the sparkling city views.

LUZ boasts a lively atmosphere with live percussionists and guest DJs spinning Spanish-modern house and tribal beats weekly. Currently, LUZ is hosting "Viva La Fiesta" on Wednesdays, starting at 7 PM. This event features Latin house, flamenco grooves, and tribal beats, alongside delicious Spanish tapas and paella.

How Much Does it Cost

What is the Menu About

LUZ Bangkok Tapas Bar
Courtesy of LUZ Bangkok Tapas Bar

LUZ Bangkok Tapas Bar serves distinctive Spanish cuisine with a unique flair, featuring a dynamic selection of dishes that are reimagined using the freshest local Thai ingredients.

At the helm of their kitchen is the talented Spanish Chef de Cuisine, Juan Ignacio García Racionero, a Madrid native whose culinary expertise has been shaped by his experiences in Spain's finest kitchens, including Le Cordon Bleu, and prestigious Michelin-starred establishments. Chef Juan has created a special menu for "Viva La Fiesta," held every Wednesday, which celebrates the rich and diverse gastronomy of Spain.

This particular menu features a delightful range of comforting Spanish tapas paired with fun cocktails such as "Agua de Valencia" and festive drinks such as Sangria. Guests can indulge in classic dishes like tapas, paella, and churros, as well as innovative interpretations of traditional Spanish favorites. Additionally, the bar offers a selection of Spanish wines, international craft beers, and a variety of spirits.

What Did We Try

LUZ Bangkok Tapas Bar

The two signature cocktails are inspired by the flavors of Spain, offering an aesthetically pleasing presentation along with a delightful taste.

Start your evening with the light and thirst-quenching Jardin Dorado (THB390). This cocktail is infused with Gin, Aomori Apple, and Basil-Yuzu Verdejo Espuma. It is perfectly blended with ingredients like William Pear, Honey, and Lemon, making it an ideal way to cool you down and get into your zen mode. Expect a bubbly, effervescent elixir with a tantalizing fruity sweetness and a touch of sourness — an irresistible mood booster. Enjoy it before diving into your meal or savor it alongside your appetizers.

Not feeling boozy enough? The Tinto Sour (THB390) is a rich and smooth cocktail that features an alluring blend of woody and citrus notes, creating a perfectly balanced bittersweet experience. A strong post-work drink that will help you unwind right away. Crafted with Premium Bourbon Whiskey and Red Wine, this elegant drink is elevated by the addition of Fresh Lemon, Velvety Egg White, Sea Buckthorn-Rooibos Honey, and a touch of Angostura Bitters — instantly energizing you with its impressive flair.

Chanquetes Fritos (THB350), often referred to as fried whitebait, is a popular tapas dish consisting of Fried Fish, Fried Eggs, and Roasted Peppers. Lightly battered and deep-fried, each bite is full of piquant, crunchy goodness. It’s a light, flavorful dish that keeps you good company while you wait for your main course.

If you’re a ham lover, the Plato De  Jamón 40g (THB750) is sure to delight your taste buds with its subtle hint of herbs and intense, savory flavor. Expect buttery tomato-rubbed bread served with Iberian ham and salsa dipping — a simple yet wholesome offering that feels comforting and delivers a rich, umami taste. Consider it the Spanish version of bruschetta, but served with ham.

Note that the three dishes — Chanquetes Fritos, Plate Paella, and Plato De Jamón — are available for order on Wednesdays during the "Viva La Fiesta" experience.

A dish that truly lives up to its reputation is the Plate Paella (THB550). The earthy, slightly musky flavor of the paella beautifully complements the accompanying meats, including tender duck, chewy pork, and chicken wings, all mixed with mushrooms and Padrón peppers. Adding to its allure is the Dijonnaise sauce, which is a blend of garlic aioli and Dijon mustard mayonnaise, instantly giving you an extra kick with its bold garlicky flavor and subtle sweetness. A spoonful of saffron-infused rice combined with duck, topped with a dollop of creamy aioli sauce — feels like a warm hug. This dish delivers a burst of flavorful spices that fills your soul with authentic Spanish taste — a must-have for satisfying your palate.

A classic comfort food that never disappoints is the Las Croquetas Iberico (THB560). This dish features Iberian Ham Croquettes — delectable tapas that pair perfectly with your cocktail. As you bite into the perfectly crispy breadcrumb coating, an indulgent, creamy béchamel sauce bursts forth, delivering a melt-in-your-mouth experience. These deep-fried golden balls, filled with diced Iberico ham, offer a complex texture and a warm, salty flavor that will leave you craving more — even a second round!

What We Liked

If you’re a fan of rooftop bars, LUZ Bangkok Tapas Bar ticks all the boxes — good vibe, delicious food, vibey music, and an unobstructed view of the city’s skyline. It’s a tempting spot to spend quality time with your loved ones, celebrate your big day, and take some Instagrammable shots with the city’s glittering skyline backdrop.

As for the Spanish tapas, all of them hit the spot, particularly the exclusive selections from the "Viva La Fiesta" menu. The Las Croquetas Ibérico is a standout dish — a comforting and indulgent appetizer that will surely become your go-to dish. Another highlight is the Plate Paella, an aromatic homey dish that hits all the chords with its intense flavors and intricate layers of piquancy, ensuring that you'll want to come back to LUZ for more.

What We Didn't Like

Every item served was a delight, showcasing a unique flavor that left a memorable impression on our taste buds. However, the Chanquetes Fritos, though packed with flavor and pleasantly chewy, could have been crispier, and a dip on the side would have truly elevated their taste experience. Likewise, the bread in the Plato De  Jamón was slightly hard in texture. A softer, chewier surface would have greatly enhanced the dish.

What You Should Order

LUZ Bangkok Tapas Bar
Courtesy of LUZ Bangkok Tapas Bar

The best picks from the lot Plate Paella (THB550), Plato De  Jamón (THB750/50g), and Las Croquetas Iberico (THB560) — all must-tries that can be ordered on Wednesdays via the "Viva La Fiesta" menu. Additionally, the succulent Pulpo A La Parrilla (THB650) is a beloved dish at LUZ that is highly recommended. It features grilled octopus served with paprika mashed potatoes and mango, offering a tender, briny texture that bursts with fresh ocean flavor.

Don’t miss out on the Tacos De Rabo De Rayo (THB280), a heartwarming selection with braised Australian oxtail wrapped in crispy homemade tacos. Each bite offers a delicious fusion of rich Idiazabal cheese and savory goodness, making this dish a truly satisfying choice.

Sip the signature cocktail, Jardin Dorado (THB390), which is light and refreshing — perfect for all taste buds and pairs beautifully with all dishes. Or, sip the special Spanish sangrias (THB890) for a slightly boozy but fun festive drink to spruce up your evening.

For desserts, go for the LUZ Churros (THB210), which are homemade cinnamon-coated churros with spiced chocolate sauce — a divine treat that won't disappoint you. Meanwhile, you could satisfy your sweet cravings with the Tarta De Queso (THB210), a Basque cheesecake topped with passionfruit coulis, that promises a luscious, tangy indulgence in every bite.

Yu Ting Yuan at Four Seasons Bangkok Uncovers All-New Menus
Yu ting Photo by Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok

At the MICHELIN-starred Yu Ting Yuan, tucked inside the luxe Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River, a bold new chapter is starting for Cantonese cuisine.

Executive Chinese Chef Tommy Cheung is turning the page with a bold, boundary-pushing culinary revamp that redefines what Cantonese cuisine can be.

“This is not a seasonal refresh, but it’s a complete evolution,” said Chef Tommy. “We’ve introduced new ingredients, refined our techniques, and crafted menus that reflect where Cantonese cuisine is today, and where it’s going.”

Drawing on his roots in Hong Kong’s dynamic kitchens and a family legacy steeped in culinary tradition, Chef Tommy’s new menus showcase modern finesse while remaining deeply respectful of Cantonese heritage.

Tasting Menu

Chef Tommy’s new Tasting Menu is a love letter to premium ingredients and elegant technique: think Double-Boiled Fish Maw Soup infused with rare Kunlun snow chrysanthemum, morel mushroom, and American ginseng, and barbecued Hokkaido pork nestled in silky handmade noodles.

The Yu Ting Yuan Menu Experience, meanwhile, is a greatest-hits collection of the restaurant’s most iconic dishes, with highlights like the Signature Barbecue Platter to Steamed Crab Claw Topped with Kristal Caviar.

For those who prefer to go à la carte, the new menu is just as ambitious. Comfort food classics are elevated without losing soul: there’s Steamed Abalone on Garlic-Glossed Glass Noodles, Deep-Fried Eggplant with Garlic so crisp it practically shatters, and Deeply Savory Chicken in Clay Pot with Scallions.

With soaring floor-to-ceiling windows framing serene reflective ponds and lush gardens, Yu Ting Yuan immerses guests in a harmonious blend of dark wood and gold accents that elevate the art of Cantonese cuisine into a truly refined experience.

This visual symphony extends to the open kitchen, which turns cooking into theater, where diners witness the dramatic crisping of Peking duck and the precise, graceful folding of dumplings.

Melbourne Tapas Restaurant MoVida Arrives in Bangkok

MoVida Bangkok has landed in the vibrant Ekkemai district, bringing a fresh twist on tapas straight from Melbourne’s acclaimed culinary scene.

Founded by Spanish-born and Australian-raised Chef Frank Camorra, MoVida brilliantly fuses Spain’s rich culinary heritage with Thailand’s lively culture of sharing plates, creating an unforgettable dining experience.

Start your journey with refined yet approachable tapas-sized servings, sure to excite your taste buds.

Don’t miss their crisp, tender Asparagus that bursts with MoVida’s signature flavor, or Anchoa — anchovies sourced from the Cantabrian Sea — drizzled with fragrant olive oil and served with crispbread in true tapas style.

Meat lovers will enjoy their Cecina, smoky, delicate cured meat, while seafood aficionados will love their Fideos Negro, black squid ink noodles cooked to authentic Spanish perfection.

Other highlights include Pez Real — cold-smoked kingfish paired with pine nut sorbet and gazpacho — and Tartaleta, a brick pastry tart filled with chicken liver parfait brûlée and a zing of verjuice.

For a hearty main, dive into the Paella de Señorito, a saffron-infused bomba rice feast with calamari, barramundi, and smoked prawns. Or savor the melt-in-your-mouth Carrillera de Buey — slow-braised Angus beef cheek in Pedro Ximénez wine, paired with silky cauliflower purée
