Celebrate Friendship This Love Month: Galentine’s Day Ideas in Hong Kong

06022026 1Photo by DarkSide/Instagram

Valentine’s Day may be all about romantic love, but February is also the perfect time to honor the friendships that make life truly meaningful.

That’s where Galentine’s Day comes in, a celebration of your platonic soulmates, your ride-or-die pals, and the friends who know you better than anyone else. It’s a reminder that love isn’t just romantic; it comes in laughter-filled brunches, late-night heart-to-hearts, and adventures shared with those who lift you up.

This love month, why not give your friendships the spotlight they deserve? Here’s a curated list of Galentine's Day events and activities in Hong Kong that let you do just that.

Sometimes the best conversations happen over a warm cup and a plate of sweet and savory treats. Afternoon tea in Hong Kong is a classic way to slow down, catch up, and dive into thoughtful chats with your friends, perfect for Galentine’s.

While you can also book afternoon tea at some of Hong Kong’s finest hotel lobbies, those looking for a more casual, budget-friendly, and relaxed setting can head to Hong Kong Parkview Teahouse. Nestled in a green oasis with floor-to-ceiling windows and elegant decor, it’s perfect for long conversations over light bites and a soothing cup of tea, giving you and your friends the space to catch up without the formality of a hotel high tea.

Their afternoon tea is priced at HK$378 for 2 people and HK$218 for 1 person, and includes delightful treats such as English scones, Smoked Salmon and Avocado Roll, Chestnut Chocolate Tart, Raspberry Jelly and Vanilla Cake Roll, and Mango Mousses Dome. You can enjoy it every Monday to Saturday from 3 PM to 6 PM, and until 5 PM on Sundays. You can book a table here.

You can book a table at one of Hong Kong’s many Michelin-starred restaurants, which offer exquisite cuisine and elegant settings. And yes, we have a list of spots that are perfect for group dining.

Or, for a twist that blends celebration with connection, you can join a hybrid dinner and networking event like the “Female Founders Dinner — Galentine’s Edition.” Designed for career women looking to share stories, meet like‑minded peers, and enjoy great food, it’s a perfect way to celebrate friendship, support each other’s journeys, and make the evening meaningful beyond the meal. The dinner is happening on Feb. 10 from 7 PM to 10 PM at 11Westside. Tickets are available here at HK$551.15.

Mark your calendars for Mar. 27 to 29, 2026 — because the region’s most illustrious art fair, Art Basel Hong Kong, is shaping up for its most extensive edition yet!

This year, Art Basel Hong Kong will feature 240 galleries from 41 countries and territories, with 32 newcomers and more than half of the participating galleries from the Asia-Pacific region. This number once again reflects the fair’s focus on regional voices, artistic innovation, and cross-cultural exchange, culminating at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Notable newcomers include A Lighthouse called Kanata (Tokyo), The Commercial (Sydney), Pilevneli (Istanbul), Uffner & Liu (New York), Galería Casado Santapau (Madrid), and 1 Mira Madrid / 2 Mira Archiv (Madrid).

The organizers have also announced the debut of a new curatorial team for Encounters, alongside a new section called “Sectors,” dedicated to works created within the past five years. The new section will highlight emerging practices and current artistic narratives through 10 curated booths by 13 participating galleries.

The fair’s Encounter section, dedicated to large-scale installations and performances, will adopt a new curatorial model led by four Asia-based curators — Mami Kataoka (Director of Mori Art Museum, Tokyo), Isabella Tam (Curator of Visual Art, M+ Hong Kong), Alia Swastika (Curator, Researcher, and Writer, Jakarta), and Hirokazu Tokuyama (Senior Curator, Mori Art Museum, Tokyo), bringing fresh regional perspectives to its most immersive platform.

The city-wide Public Program will also return, featuring free film screenings, talks, and institutional collaborations. The Film Program will be curated by media artist Ellen Pau, while the Conversations series will include sessions that are guest-curated by Museum MACAN Director Venus Lau.

As part of its ongoing partnership with M+, Art Basel will once commission a large-scale artwork for the museum’s façade. From Mar. 23, 2026, Pakistani-American artist Shazia Sikander’s “3 to 12 Nautical Miles” will be displayed on the building’s exterior, reflecting Art Basel’s commitment to bringing ambitious contemporary art into the public realm.

The fair will also expand its digital art offerings through Zero 10, a curated initiative that supports artists working in new media and emerging technologies.

With returning key sections such as Galleries, Discoveries, and Insights, as well as returning exhibitors and first-time participants, and a strong focus on emerging talent, Art Basel 2026 aims to connect artistic legacies with new creative directions.

Art Basel Hong Kong is more than an art fair — it is a living ecosystem where creativity and culture drive a vibrant, resilient art market.”

Art Basel Hong Kong 2026 will happen at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from Mar. 27 to 29, 2026, with Preview days on Mar. 25 and 26. Tickets are now exclusively available for purchase via the website, with advanced pricing applicable until Mar. 9, 2026. Standard prices will apply from Mar. 10, 2026.

Are you in the mood to watch a cinematic masterpiece? Wong Kar-wai’s acclaimed 2000 film “In the Mood for Love,” is set to return to the big screen for the 50th anniversary of the Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF).

This April 2026, the film festival will host a special screening with live orchestral accompaniment by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil).

Known for its embodiment of loneliness, restraint, and unspoken longing, the 2000s classic has become a timeless example of modern romance. With its signature film score and stunning cinematography, the film continues to resonate with audiences across generations.

Running for only three performances, the upcoming screening will feature a live performance conducted by award-winning maestro Joshua Tan, bringing a new emotional depth to the film’s classic film score. The orchestra’s presence is also expected to heighten the story’s subtle intensity and nostalgic atmosphere.

Praised across the years for its visual elegance, emotional realism and yearning, “In the Mood for Love” follows two neighbours whose restrained connection unravels into a delicate exploration of missed chances, “what ifs,” and silent devotion. Its themes of memory, longing, and fleeting intimacy remain strikingly relevant today, influencing another generation of yearners and passionate lovers.

The event offers audiences the rare chance to experience the film with live musical accompaniment, blending cinema and music in three mesmerizing sessions.

MOLLY is home!

To celebrate the beloved MOLLY’s 20th anniversary, The Peak Tram & Peak Tower have teamed up with POP MART and Peak Galleria to present “Journey to The Star: MOLLY Back to The Peak,” running until Mar. 31, 2026, across Victoria Peak in Hong Kong.

This city-wide installation revisits MOLLY’s two-decade creative evolution, tracing her origins back to 2006 — when artist Kenny Wong first idealized the blue-eyed, pouty character after meeting a little girl at Victoria Peak. Now, 20 years later, MOLLY returns to where she first began and invites fans to rediscover Hong Kong through her signature sense of childlike wonder.

Visitors can explore eight themed photogenic installations spread across the Peak Tram Central Terminus, The Peak Tower, Sky Terrace 428, and Peak Road Garden. Each spot reflects a distinct chapter of MOLLY’s 20-year journey, celebrating her signature looks and timeless storytelling with panoramic city views — perfect for photos and sightseeing.
