Samgyeopsal Sets for Delivery in Metro Manila if You Want KBBQ at Home

Pre-COVID-19, trooping to the Korean barbecue restaurant was an entire ritual. It's almost always enjoyed with company, precisely because the method is so communal: huddled over a gas or charcoal grill, diners from the same party chat and laugh as they sample different types of banchan (side dishes) and cook a wide variety of meats in between shots of soju. It's pretty much an unspoken rule to leave the restaurant smelling like smoke. Otherwise, did you really eat Korean barbecue if you didn't smell like grilled meat and grease yourself?
When the pandemic happened, this communal way of eating had to take a pause. This didn't stop Korean barbecue restaurants from trying to bring the experience to people's homes, though, but in a slightly different manner. A slew of restaurants has since been offering cooked samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) and other meat sets for delivery, complete with banchan and lettuce for those who want to replicate the experience at home.
There's the absence of the grill, of course, which is part of the fun of Korean barbecue places, but we'll take what we can get. Here are five restaurants in Metro Manila that deliver samgyeopsal sets so you can enjoy Korean barbecue at home!
Soban K-Town Grill
This Korean barbecue restaurant is a partnership between Mr. Sung Rah of Sariwon Korean Barbecue and Happyfoods Group of Restaurants, his Philippine franchisee.
Soban prides itself for its thick-cut European samgyupsal, woo samgyup (beef belly), and dak ganjeong (crispy Korean fried chicken), and those who crave these can easily have them delivered to their doorstep. Its take-out menu comprises dosirak or Korean boxed meals, which come with one's choice of meat, side dishes, and rice.
Soban's dosirak ranges from P320 to P405; there's also the option of a double meat dosirak for P475. These are for individuals though; those throwing dinner at home can check out Soban's group sets, which can either be cooked in-store or frozen so you can grill the meat on your own.
You can order through Soban's website or GrabFood.
Premier The Samgyupsal
Malate-based Premier is a Korean barbecue restaurant known for serving unlimited KBBQ and shabu-shabu, with local fresh pork and United States-imported beef on offer. It likewise has a dosirak menu for those who don't feel like grilling their own meat at home. If you love your banchan, we recommend you check out Premier as a dosirak order comes with 10 kinds of side dishes, along with soup and kimchi fried rice. Some of the dosirak available are Samgyupsal Dosirak (P350), Soy Chicken BBQ Dosirak (P350), and Woosamgyup Beef Dosirak (P380), among others.
Premier The Samgyupsal's dosirak can be ordered through GrabFood. You may also message the restaurant through its Facebook.
Sibyullee Unlimited Korean BBQ
Sibyullee is another concept by Sung Rah and the Happyfoods Group, so you can expect the same quality of premium meats that you get from Soban K-Town Grill. This restaurant offers a wide array of Solo Meals, Boss Meals, and KBBQ Party Kits for groups perfect for every hungry individual and family craving some tender and flavorful Korean barbecue.
Its affordable solo meals range from P215 to P250, while the boss meals come in a large size for those who love their protein. For a stress-free dinner with the family, we recommend you go for Sibyullee's Pork & Beef KBBQ Party Kit for four (P2,150), which comes with three 200-gram types of pork, two 200-gram types of beef, cheese dip, gimbap (seaweed rice roll), three side dishes, mini pajeon (savory green onion pancake), four white rice, japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), lettuce, and sauces.
You can order from Sibyullee on its website or via GrabFood.
Sariwon Korean Barbecue
Sariwon is a North Korean town where Mrs. Bun-im-Koo created her Korean beef bulgogi recipe. She started out with a small restaurant with only 20 seats in 1938, which has since grown into one of the best barbecue restaurants in Korea.
Its main branch in Seocho, Gangnam, is over 500 square meters and can accommodate up to 350 people. It has also been awarded "Best Korean Restaurant" by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. And yep, Sung Rah is the mind behind this restaurant and was instrumental in bringing it to the Philippines.
Its Executive Solo Sets are served with four side dishes, japchae and doenjang chigae (soybean paste soup). We recommend you go for its Yangnyeom Galbisal Executive Set, priced at P625, for some premium marinated USDA Choice beef rib fingers. You can order via Sariwon’s website.
Geonbae Modern Korean Bar and Grill
This Korean bar and grill offers regular and premium dosirak, which you can order through GrabFood or foodpanda. Geonbae, which translates to "empty glass," embodies Korean's fun approach to drinking and eating, and this is exactly what you can expect from this bar and grill. Its premium dosirak is at once affordable and enjoyable, priced at only P249 on GrabFood. We recommend you try the Premium Bento Herb Pork Belly, which comes with herbed pork belly, rice, meatloaf, cucumber tea, kimchi, odeng (fish cakes), and galbitang (short rib soup).
For groups, feel free to check out its set meals, which are good for two to eight people.
