What to Order at One World Deli: Steaks, Sashimi, and More

One World Deli first began as a deli-café situated along Jupiter Street. Residents along Bel-Air and around Makati would visit the quaint establishment, pop in for a slice of cake or a side of ribs. They would browse through aisles of imported and local products – chocolates from Davao, spices from Sri Lanka, or tea from Great Britain. In many ways, One World Deli offered its customers a whole ecosystem unto itself. Everything you needed was within those walls.
Fast forward to 2024, and One World Deli has since expanded to include two more branches: one in San Juan, and another in Pasay, at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Square.

Their third branch to date, One World Deli’s MOA location sets itself apart from its two predecessors with a focus on cuisine. While other branches are dictated by the number of aisles boasting high-end imported and local products, at MOA, customers are instantly greeted with an expanse of tables, and plenty of space. The building itself has been designed to resemble a boat, evoking the history of the Battle of Manila Bay. Lighting overhead mimics the sunlight shining on a boat’s lower deck and the restaurant’s light wood décor reminds one of warm, sunny days.
Aligning itself with the philosophy of other One World Deli branches, the MOA site also offers clientele a whole ecosystem unto itself. Guests can request for anything and everything – so long as the ingredients are available on its shelves. “We can even make you a bowl of sinigang!” laughed Angela Villaroman, resident chef genius at One World Deli. “So long as we have the ingredients on hand, [it is possible]. We may have to replace tamarind with lemon as the souring agent, but yes, whatever you see on our shelves, can be cooked in our kitchens and served to guests at their tables.”
This news comes as particularly exciting especially when one sees the array of offerings on-hand. The restaurant’s Seafood Bar boasts live aquariums with a variety of fish, crabs, and lobsters. “Guests will notice that even though [One World Deli] deals with live meat and butchering, there is no offensive smell floating around. That tells you that we only deal with high-quality products and meat,” shared Angela.
A must-try for those who are unfamiliar, the ocean trout sashimi is a bestseller at MOA in Pasay. Though visually similar to salmon, the ocean trout trumps the former as it offers diners a more substantial bite and a cleaner flavour. During One World Deli’s Happy Hour – which runs from 4 PM to 6 PM on weekdays – diners are also welcome to order seafood such as ceviche and oysters, or drinks like wine, at reduced prices. “Our Gallagher oysters are amazing; our customers are often amazed that they don’t have that ‘lansa’ taste to it,” shared Angela.
In the meat section – cheekily named Meat Anton – diners can choose high-end options such as John Stone Beef from Ireland, Dingley Dell from the UK, or Ovation lamb from Australia. The highlight, however, has got to be the black angus Braveheart beef from the United States.
Because One World Deli is Braveheart’s exclusive distributor in the country, Braveheart has become a special menu addition that you can only find here. What’s more, this incredible brand has assured quality in a way that no other brand has. “Braveheart has a system [called the PathProven program] where if you find you that you are unsatisfied with a certain cut or piece of meat, they can trace that [piece] back to the animal. From there, they can find out why it was perhaps subpar,” shared Kristina “Keena” Piedad, from One World Deli Marketing. “They can trace it back to the animal’s living conditions, even its parents, and what it was eating while it was alive.”
As is obvious, Braveheart meat is meticulously prepared to ensure every diner’s satisfaction. And after trying the brand’s short ribs (bone-in), we have to agree: it is delicious. Served with garlic confit, chimichurri, and salt flakes with rosemary, each bite is as tender and flavourful as you think it is. At the moment, One World Deli is running a Deli Deal on Braveheart prime rib, slashing its price from P435 per 100 grams to just P275.
“I also love to recommend cuts of beef that other people may not have thought to order,” shared Angela. “I’d love for people to try the flat iron steak, or the picanha. Picanha is usually hard to find in Manila, but yes, we do have it here as well.”
Jack’s Creek is an incredible flat iron steak that is tender and juicy. Served with homemade fries, it is a fantastic lunchtime treat for those looking to indulge.
While One World Deli might draw people due to their versatile menu, there’s no doubt that people stay to shop their incredible merchandise as well. They’ve finally brought Paris’ famed Angelina hot chocolate to local shelves, among many other goods.
“We love to carry brands with a story to them,” said Keena.
What’s great is that customers can shop – and eat – simultaneously. Chefs such as Chef Angela are always present to help guests, whether it’s with a well-informed recommendation or a thoughtful answer to an intriguing culinary question. Guests can even ask One World Deli chefs to surprise them; simply name a budget and what you feel like eating, then sit back as you wait to be served incredible, international fare.
