Thailand Will Open Its First Nobu Hotel in 2026 at Historic EAC Building

American restaurant and hotel chain Nobu Hospitality has signed a deal with real estate group Asset World Corp. (AWC) to open Thailand’s first Nobu Hotel, along with a similar project in New York. Named Plaza Athenee Nobu Hotel and Spa Bangkok, the upcoming hotel aims to bring luxury hospitality to local and international guests while soaking in the beautiful views of the Chao Phraya River.
“[T]he Plaza Athenee Nobu Hotel and Spa Bangkok will offer luxury hospitality and a unique world-class F&B experience, with AWC and Nobu developing the East meets West concept, integrated under the River Journey concept,” Nobu Hotels said in a release.
The hotel is set to open in 2026, taking over the historic East Asiatic Company (EAC) Heritage Building next to The Mandarin Oriental.
Founded in 1884, the EAC Heritage Building is a Renaissance Revival-style establishment that served as EAC (Thailand)’s headquarters until 1995. It received the ASA Architectural Conservation Award in 1984 and is now used as a commercial event space.
The transformation of the building is expected to create a unique riverfront experience, further elevating luxury travel to the Land of Smiles and “connecting to other AWC projects along the Chao Phraya River.”
