The Daily Tot Launches a New Menu and Coconut Bar for All Rum Enthusiasts
The Daily Tot introduces a new special menu, the Caribbean Rum Pilgrimage, made from rums carefully handpicked by Beverage Manager Maikal Gurung and his team during their recent adventure in the Caribbean. We were fortunate to sample the new menu and Pop-Up Coconut Bar before its official launch on Monday, July 1, 2024.
Conveniently located on the corner of Hollywood Road and Peel Street, Central, Hong Kong, The Daily Tot is well-loved for bringing nightlife in the city to a whole new level.
Embark on a journey through the Caribbean with a curated menu suitable for rum lovers and beginners alike. With a touch of modern and classic cocktails, the comprehensive menu offers an authentic taste of rum that invites you to experience the pilgrim journey of Maikal.
With a total of 11 cocktails, the new menu aims to bring the original traditions of rum to showcase Caribbean culture to Hong Kong.
We were welcomed with the La Jefa (HK$ 120), which took us by surprise; strong notes of coriander in the creatively crafted savory cocktail offered a sophisticated and interesting experience. We get it, you either hate or love it.
The Shy Guy (HK $120) was packed with sunshine, palm trees, and summer vibes that were heavily infused with Planteray rum (formerly known as Plantation) along with Guava, Macadamia Nut Syrup, and Rose Water to bring out all the tropical goodness.
For those who like a little snack while drinking, the Murder She Wrote (HK $120) is perfect for you. The drink was light and refreshing which maintained a well-balanced sweetness overall. It was garnished with a crispy, buttery waffle that differentiated it nicely from the other drinks.
We were then served the What’s Your Beef (HK$ 120) cocktail that paired Beef Jerk Fat Washed Appleton Special Gold with Appleton Signature blends creating a flawless balance of sour and savory.
Hong Kong’s First Pop-Up Coconut Bar
We were then spoiled with an amazing selection of coconut-inspired rum cocktails to keep the good energy going. A massive thank you to Ofentse Mokhuane for the sensational performance!
In partnership with Planteray Rum, the Daily Tot’s outdoor terrace transformed into a tropical paradise with a Pop-Up Coconut Bar.
We were kindly offered a classic spiced rum called the Hurri-Cane (HK$ 120) which used a traditional Jamaican rum called, Canerock Rum. For those who have a sweet tooth, the Banana Daiquiri (HK$ 120) featured Planteray Stiggins’ Fancy Pineapple Rum that blends fruity, sweet, and earthy flavors together. Tropical Milk Punch (HK $130) included Planteray Original Dark Rum which added another layer of complexity to rum cocktails with a mixture of Earl Grey Tea, coconut milk, and passionfruit.
At that point, we were feeling a little peckish and the Daily Tot team just knew us so well. They provided us with treats from Carbs and Barkada along with a special rum and raisin cookie from their upcoming Cookie DPT collaboration.
Let the good vibes roll this summer and treat yourself to a sip of the rich history and flavors of the Caribbean Rum Pilgrimage and Hong Kong's First Pop-Up Coconut Bar starting from Monday, July 1, 2024.
