Naia Black Crowned Grand Winner of ‘Drag Den Philippines’
After seven grueling weeks, the inaugural season of “Drag Den Philippines” has crowned Naia Black as the first-ever Drag Supreme.
Naia bested seven other drag queens during the live finale at SM Aura Samsung Hall on Thursday, Jan. 26, which kickstarted with a performance of “Drag Den Philippines” OST by Manila Luzon.
The final episode saw the top three contestants — Naia Black, Shewarma, and Maria Christina — go head-to-head during the national costume presentation, lip-sync battle, and long gown competition.
During the final question and answer round, Naia was asked, “What is the one quality that makes you the true Drag Supreme?”
The 26-year-old said, “When I auditioned, I knew that ‘Drag Den’ was for the underdogs. And I know that I have that quality of growth that I’ve exhibited since day one. I’ve gone through so many hardships and Manila [Luzon], you’ve opened my eyes to what drag can truly be. It is freedom of expression, and I can’t be more happy to be here. Thank you for giving me this platform because I was able to prove that growth is what you need to become the next Drag Supreme.”
Naia took home P1 million worth of prizes. Shewarma and Maria Cristina ended up as the first and second runners-up, respectively.
Fans can rewatch all episodes of “Drag Den Philippines” on Prime Video.
