Celebrating Sustainable Fashion: Get Redressed Month Back in HK this May
Hong Kong-based environmental charity Redress gears up for a bigger Get Redressed Month this year, following the theme “Your Clothes, Our Planet,” with expanded activities prepared for the celebration, set to happen in May, which promotes a sustainable fashion lifestyle among consumers.
Focusing on storytelling this year, Redress brings the campaign to the community by collaborating with stakeholders. From influencers to community leaders to the public, everyone is encouraged to take part and share their own stories about fashion pieces that will be featured in a photo exhibition and communication campaign to evoke emotions and share how people value their clothes.
Activities this Get Redressed month are set to include a clothing drive, a three-day Sort-a-thon, and educational talks in offices and schools, including student-led activities to further spread the initiative of the charity.
Starting in 2018, Get Redressed Month has been the largest consumer awareness campaign about circular fashion in Hong Kong. And in 2022, the campaign successfully collected 16.2 tonnes of clothing, 60% of which was redistributed to charities and 17% was resold in second-hand pop-up stores.
