FIBA to Stage 3x3 World Tour 2024 Grand Finale in Hong Kong
Heads up, basketball fans! You can soon watch an intense battle of international teams live as the International Basketball Federation, also known as FIBA, is set to hold its 3x3 World Tour 2024 grand finale in Hong Kong.
To be held for the first time ever in Hong Kong, the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Final will see 12 of the world’s best 3x3 men’s teams battle it out for the championship title from Nov. 23 to 24.
This includes the top 11 teams for this season, plus a 12th-ranked team, which will be decided through a play-in event. At the play-in, the team from the host city and the team with the most combined Challenger and World Tour wins will compete to join the finale.
Prior to the finale, the tournament will be held in 16 different cities from April to November, including the opening in Utsunomiya, Japan, in April and succeeding stops in Marseille, Ulaanbaatar, Chengdu, Edmonton, and Shenzhen, among others.
Last month, Hong Kong also hosted the FIBA 3x3 Universality Olympic Qualifying Tournament. In a press release, Alex Sanchez, Managing Director of FIBA 3x3, said that it was a “natural step” to hold the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Final in the city after the qualifying tournament’s success.
“With its iconic backdrop and passionate basketball community, we are set to provide a spectacular setting for the pinnacle of the 3x3 season,” Kenny Wong, CEO of the Organizing Committee for the World Tour Final, added.
