Government Announces Opening of New Country and Marine Park in 2024
In an announcing “Beautiful Hong Kong,” a new initiative to promote Hong Kong’s natural ecological culture, Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan said on Monday (July 24) that Hong Kong will open the new Robin's Nest Country Park and the North Lantau Marine Park next year.
Set to open in mid-2024, Hong Kong’s Robin's Nest Country Park will become the city’s 25th country park, while the new North Lantau Marine Park will be Hong Kong's eighth marine park on record.
Robin's Nest Country Park will be located directly opposite Shenzhen’s Wutong Mountain Scenic Area, fusing a cross-border ecological corridor between both cities. The North Lantau Marine Park is located adjacent to the Pearl River estuary, the national nature reserve for Chinese white dolphins.
In the press conference, Secretary Chan also touched upon the government’s commitment to protecting the city’s natural ecological culture in the long run, expressing the wish that other industries would also join in and help the growth and promotion of local green tourism.
