2024 Lunar New Year Fireworks Display
After a four-year wait, Hong Kong’s skies will light up again this Chinese New Year with the sorely missed fireworks display ready to ring in the Year of the Dragon. To be held on the second day of Chinese New Year (Feb. 11), the 23-minute fireworks display can be witnessed from the opposite sides of the Victoria Harbour, drawing in tens of thousands of spectators. The Tsim Sha Tsui harbour front has the best vantage point, but if you want relatively lesser crowd, you can also find great viewing spots in Wan Chai, Admiralty, and more.
Well-wishing Festival
Every year, Lam Tsuen becomes the focal point of Hong Kong’s Well-wishing Festival, drawing in locals and tourists to take part in an age-old tradition. The heart of the festival lies in the traditional act of casting wishes upon two banyan trees, aptly called the Wishing Tree—a profound symbol of fortune and the realisation of aspirations. Well-wishers inscribe their aspirations onto placards and toss them skyward. At night, the sky glows with the gentle flicker of wishing lanterns, each bearing the collective aspirations and optimism of its creators. The sight is nothing short of mesmerising, a visual ode to collective hopes for a prosperous and triumphant year ahead!
Cathay’s Chinese New Year Night Parade

The vivacious procession symbolises prosperity and success, creating an atmosphere filled with pulsating energy and captivating performances. From the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza to the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel and Towers, the parade will dazzle spectators along Canton Road, Haiphong Road, and Nathan Road.
The entire route will also come alive with street performances, featuring international groups such as the Tumanako Māori Cultural Group from Australia and New Zealand and the Tibet Chamdo Troupe from Mainland China.
