All the Winners at the Metro Manila Film Festival 2022 Gabi ng Parangal
Mikhail Red's techno-horror film "Deleter" won big at this year's Metro Manila Film Festival Gabi ng Parangal, which was held on Tuesday night, Dec. 27, at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.
The film, starring Nadine Lustre as Lyra, bagged seven awards, namely Best Picture, Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Director for Red, and Best Actress for Lustre.
Lustre also won the Star of the Night award alongside "Nanahimik Ang Gabi" star Ian Veneracion, who was likewise named Best Actor at the awards night.
"Deleter" centers on Lyra, who works as an online content moderator whose job is to delete and filter disturbing images and videos. On the surface, Lyra seems like a hardboiled person, but unbeknownst to the people around her, she is actually dealing with her own traumas and demons.
The MMFF opened to the Philippine public on Christmas Day with eight official entries but kicked off the fun days earlier on Dec. 21 with its Parade of Stars in Quezon City. MMFF 2022 will run in cinemas nationwide until Jan. 7, 2023.
The eight official entries are Mikhail Red's "Deleter," Shugo Praico's "Nanahimik Ang Gabi," Nuel Naval's "Family Matters," Coco Martin's "Labyu With An Accent," Cathy Garcia-Molina's "Partners In Crime," Joel Lamangan's "My Father, Myself," Lester Dimaranan's "Mamasapano: Now It Can Be Told," and Paul Soriano's "My Teacher."
