All-Natural Dehydrated Treats for Your Paw-some But Picky Pups

There’s no such thing as “too much love” when it comes to our furbabies. After all, one of the best feelings is coming home to your furry four-legged companion and being welcomed by licks, jumps, and tail-wagging. So, don’t feel guilty if your pooch is taking more spa trips or getting more Instagram exposure than you. Quite frankly, they deserve it.

Launched in 2020, Treatos by Joey offers all-natural “cheetos” for dogs in all sizes. It began when the owners’ pet, Joey (hence, the name), fell in love with crunchy corn snack Cheetos. Fearing that too much salt would weigh on their Frenchie’s diet, the owners looked for a healthier alternative.

That’s how they came up with the idea of homemade dehydrated treats. The dog goodies are made of ethically sourced animal parts, such as chicken feet, pig ear, and pork lung. These are thoroughly washed, cleaned with apple cider vinegar to discard any unpleasant smell, and frozen for at least two weeks. After that, they are dehydrated for 12 to 72 hours depending on the type of meat and cut into different slices ready to be bitten into by pooches of all sizes.

Unlike your usual kibbles, dehydrated treats keep the nutrients within the meat intact, making them a healthier alternative. They are free from any preservatives and are “slow-cooked” under low temperature without affecting the meat’s nutrients.

Unboxing the Paw-some Treats

We received a box filled with five products: Pork Lung, Chicken Jerky, Beef Backstrap Fries, Chicken Appetite Booster, and Moringa Supplement.

Their bestseller is Pork Lung (P195), a treat made of a single, natural ingredient sliced into small pieces for easy bite. Best for dogs and cats, Pork Lung helps boost energy production and lessens the risk of respiratory disorders and muscle loss. Our small husky, who’s sometimes choosy when it comes to meals, gave this treat a fur-fect rating. If it’s your dog’s first time to have a dehydrated treat, best to introduce it by feeding small amounts.

Next, we gave our two dogs Chicken Jerky (P195), a mouth-watering treat made from chicken breast cut up into bite-size pieces. This goodie is a great source of Omega 6 fatty acids and is good for their skin and coat. Our small picky eater immediately sniffed and chewed this treat right after unpacking.

Our furry friends also chowed down Beef Backstrap Fries (P195), a low-fat chew packed with collagen, which helps improve mobility in dogs. Made for small- to medium-size, this is a great alternative to jerky dog treats that often contain preservatives and other chemicals.

For appetite boosters, Treatos by Joey has paw-some products to make feeding less ruff. Their Chicken Appetite Booster (195) is a 40-gram dehydrated and pulverized chicken feet, head, and liver that can be mixed with your pup’s meals. They also have supplements (Moringa Powder, Turmeric Powder, Pumpkin Seeds, Spirulina, and Bee Pollen; P95-P195) that double as antioxidants, fight diseases like arthritis, and strengthen the immune system.

Treatos by Joey’s products contain zero preservatives and are made in small batches to ensure quality and freshness. If placed on a countertop, the products can last up to two weeks, but if you put them in the refrigerator or freezer, they can last up to three and six months, respectively.

If your pooch has an unfinished chew, just pat it dry (don’t wash!), place it in an airtight container or Ziplock, and refrigerate.
