As we gear up for the much-awaited Italian Week Hong Kong 2023, celebrating the finest of Italy's culture and cuisine, it's the perfect time to introduce an upcoming hotspot that will soon make a splash in Hong Kong's vibrant bar scene. Bar Leone's Roman-inspired concept is a testament to the growing appreciation for Italian style and sophistication in the city.
Bar Leone, a Roman-inspired cocktail bar, is slated to open its doors in June, in Hong Kong's Soho district. The establishment will be located on Bridges Street, taking over the former Oolaa space and opposite the Central-branch of Ask for Alonzo. The driving force behind Bar Leone is Lorenzo Antinori, who has experience working at well-known bars such as Dandelyan, The American Bar at the Savoy, and Four Seasons’ Charles H. and Argo.
The beverage programme at Bar Leone is designed to focus on simplicity and craftsmanship. With a "low-intervention" approach, the bar aims to revive classic cocktails. Signature drinks, including the Leone Martini and Bellini, will showcase the bar's commitment to quality ingredients and uncomplicated preparation.
The interior design of Bar Leone is intended to be warm and intimate, with elements such as a mahogany bar, burnt orange banquettes, and a mix of high-top and communal seating. Italian pop culture influences will be incorporated through an eclectic soundtrack and vintage memorabilia displayed throughout the space.
In addition to cocktails, Bar Leone aims to offer a selection of piattini and spuntini, small dishes, and snacks for sharing. The bar also plans to serve quick espressos or amaros, reminiscent of traditional Italian coffee counters.
Where: Bar Leone, G/F, 11-15 Bridges Street, Central, Hong Kong
