Hanggone, the Pill Busting Your Hangover and Asian Flush
HEALTH & WELLNESS

What is Hanggone, the Health Supplement That Aims to Kill Your Hangover Symptoms and Stop Asian Flush

Picture this: you’re all set for a Friday night hitting Soho bars and Lan Kwai Fong clubs. Drinks are flowing; tequila shots, vodka cocktails, pints of beer, and glasses of wine all see their feature in the night, moves are busted, and drunk food consumed thereafter.

The next morning, however, is the least fun part of the night. Hangxiety, sickness, and general ailment grip your forehead, throat, bowels, legs, and arms, as dehydration, an imbalance of electrolytes, inflammation of the body, and gastrointestinal issues all compound on making you feel groggy and gross.

You’ve tried all the classic hangover cures: pickle juice, bacon and eggs, a mouthful of Vitamin C tablets, or hair of the dog. But when it comes to alleviating your hangover symptoms, Hong Kong’s latest hangover-busting health supplement to hit the wellness market, Hanggone, is your vital key to bust your morning anxiety and sickness.

Or maybe you couldn’t even participate in the fun because after one drink you look embarrassingly like a beetroot, feeling the effects of Asian flush, common with Hong Kongers. Take Hanggone before you start drinking and all the embarrassment will disappear and you can join the party!

Developed by Hong Kong-based biotechnology company Alcolear, Hanggone is designed to suppress the negative effects that come with drinking, including the pesky hangovers, nausea, and inevitable tiredness the morning after a heavy night.

How to Take Hanggone

Hanggone is taken in three capsules 30 minutes before your first glass of alcohol for the night, be that wine, beer, or something harder. If drinking continues longer into the night, maybe take three more capsules one hour after your first drink to further prevent any hangover symptoms the next morning. But if you don’t take it before, it still works even if you take it after you start drinking.

How do they work, these magical pills? Under normal conditions, when drinking alcohol, ADH, an enzyme naturally occurring in the body, breaks down alcohol into acetaldehyde, a toxic chemical that is the cause of both Asian flush and those pesky hangover symptoms.

Another naturally occurring enzyme in the body, ALDH, then breaks down the acetaldehyde into harmless substances that your body can handle. With its U.S.-patented formula, Hanggone contains a blend of ADH and ALDH enzymes, boosting the level of these enzymes in your body to accelerate breaking down that nasty acetaldehyde.

But is it safe? The two enzymes are extracted from Australian beef liver by Alcolear using modern biotechnology and isolation technologies. Other than dried beef liver, there is nothing else inside the capsules, with the animal product long been considered safe to ingest. It's not vegan, but you can take Hanggone without worry! If you do want a vegan product however, Alcolear is working on an another version using products not taken from cows!

The science is also in on the New Territories-manufactured Hanggone. With external tests made on the health product, the patented formulation has been seen to prevent any acetaldehyde accumulation in test tubes after adding alcohol. The pill has also passed microbiological and heavy metal tests in Hong Kong labs.

“Hanggone is the first truly effective product on the market to prevent Asian Flush and relieve the bad feelings many people experience after drinking too much. It will truly improve the lives of people who like to drink but have these problems,” Vice President of Alcolear, Jonathan Ross, told The Beat Asia.

“Our hope is that Alcolear will become a success both in Hong Kong and abroad. We are working with people in Hong Kong and Vietnam to develop these markets and hope we can also expand into China, the rest of Asia and the United States. This is going to be huge!”
