Beat the Summer Heat with These Favorite Drinks in Singapore

Beat the Summer Heat with These Favorite Drinks in Singapore

Singapore is a tropical city-state with an average humidity above 80%. This means keeping your body hydrated is important when exploring the city. The good news is Singapore never falls short when it comes to thirst-quenching beverages.

Whether you’re looking for an iced- cold boba to freshen up your day or some alcohol drink to give you just the right amount of kick, these Singaporean drinks and beverages will surely quench your thirst.

Here’s a list of the most favorite drinks in Singapore that you must try.

Teh and Kopi

Tea and coffee are the direct English translation of “teh and kopi.” Singapore has coffee shops that serve traditional coffee and tea with in-house roasted beans. Moreover, the traditional drink Teh Tarik is a foaming tea that tastes sweet and milky.

There is a bevy of stores offering tea and coffee in Singapore and one store worth checking out is Kopi & Tarts, which also serves mouth-watering pastries perfect to be paired with a cup of iced coffee. It has various branches across Singapore.

Milo Dinosaur

One of the most favorite drinks in Singapore is the Milo dinosaur, which is perfect for the scorching summer heat. This drink is a mixture of a cup of cold Milo topped with undissolved Milo powder. This easy-to-prepare drink is perfect for Milo-obsessed and chocolate lovers regardless of age.

You can also add a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream on top of it to make it more flavorful and chocolatey.

Check out Tiger Sugar Singapore's take on this beloved drink!

    Bubble Tea

Undeniably, bubble tea is a growing obsession among people from Southeast Asia, especially the younger generation. If you’re living in Singapore, you’ll probably notice there is a new bubble tea outlet that pops up almost every other day.

Bubble tea is a favorite drink in Singapore because it’s affordable, easy to drink, and comes in various flavors. From brown sugar boba to matcha milk tea, bubble tea shops in Singapore can satisfy your cravings anytime.

You can find a bubble tea shop in almost every corner of Singapore, both homegrown and imported brands. With several outlets scattered all over the city since its foray into the Singaporean market, Chi Cha San Chen is definitely worth a try.

      Bandung

Made from rose syrup, Bandung is a popular street-side drink in Singapore and Malaysia. The preparation for Bandung is very simple as you only need to mix condensed or evaporated milk, rose syrup, water, and pink food coloring altogether. Others upgrade their Bandung recipe by adding toppings like black grass jelly or boba pearls.

For people who want to drink Bandung but are health-conscious, it is recommended to use fresh milk or soy milk and rose syrup with no artificial flavors to maintain one’s diet.

        Sugarcane Juice

Made from the juice of pure sugarcanes, this is the perfect beverage to cool down from the heat. Sugarcane juice comes in a gentle sweet flavor. Most importantly, it contains nutrients that energize a person’s body and have therapeutic effects on the liver.

Order a cup or two for takeaway at Sugar Daddy to have a taste of this thirst quencher.

          Chin Chow Drink

Popularly known as the Grass Jelly Drink, Chin Chow is a mixture of crushed fruits, cold milk, syrup, and water. You can buy this drink from native vendors in Singapore markets.

This favorite local drink in Singapore has various health benefits which can prevent indigestion and reduce high blood pressure.

            Barley Water

This is a healthy drink derived from Chinese traditions. It is believed that Barley Water can promote digestive systems and lactation, be a remedy for sore throat, help cure UTI, and prevent high blood pressure.

              Soya Bean

Soya bean is a smoothie that you can mix with different flavors according to your preference. In general, soya bean has a slightly sweet flavor and is usually served frozen like ice cream.

Check out Pure Soyabean's own version of this well-loved drink.

              Penicillin Cocktail

Penicillin cocktail is one of the most popular alcoholic drinks in Singaporean bars. It is a concoction of Islay Scotch, honey-ginger sweetening, and lemon juice. The drink tastes lemony, sweet, and smoky.

This is a must-try cocktail in the country as it comes with various mixtures that are incredibly fun to drink.

Nutmeg & Clove is celebrating their 12th anniversary the best way it knows how: filling up the bar with friends for a week of world-class cocktails and non-stop fun.

Dubbed the "Nutmeg Cocktail Fiesta 2026," this week-long lineup features guest shifts and themed editions from May 24 to 31, 2026. The event brings together bartenders and bars from all over the world: Rome, the United States, Latin America, and Asia for four nights of drinking and mingling.

It all starts on May 24 with the Rome Edition, held in partnership with Medusa Osteria. From 8 PM onwards, the bar will host Patrick Pistolesi of Drink Kong (Rome, Italy) and Riccardo Rossi of Freni e Frizioni (Rome, Italy). Nutmeg & Clove's home turf is going to have an Italian energy unlike any other!

The party continues on May 26 with the United States of America Edition, also starting at 8 PM. Two names are set to bring some stateside, American flair to the cocktail counter: Harrison Ginsberg of Overstory (New York City) and Christine Kim of Service Bar (Washington D.C.).

On May 28, Nutmeg & Clove is hosting the Latin Edition, presented with La Birria Tacos. The lineup includes Gina Barbachano of Hanky Panky (Mexico City, Mexico), Jose Luis of Licorería Limantour (Mexico City, Mexico), and Marcio Silva of Exímia (São Paulo, Brazil). Singapore is about to have an energetic all-night fiesta.

To wrap things up on May 31, the Asia Family Feast brings it all back home, held with KEK and WOK IN. Nutmeg Cocktail Fiesta 2026's closing night features McHayla Killoran of Virtù (Tokyo, Japan), Felix Jo of Villa Records (Seoul, Korea), Athena Wang of Book ing (Taipei, Taiwan), and Lola Lau. The week is set to close with an Asia-focused gathering of familiar faces and fresh pours.

Founded by industry veteran Colin Chia, Nutmeg & Clove has built its reputation on modern Singaporean cuisine paired with an evolving cocktail program, grounded in deep love and affection of the city-state's history. The bar pays homage to Singapore's journey, reinterpreting classic dishes and cocktails with a distinctly local flair.

Nutmeg & Clove's anniversary arrives after a strong run on the regional and global bar circuit. They've appeared on Asia's 50 Best Bars list from 2022 to 2025: ranking No. 36 (2022), No. 7 (2023), No. 6 (2024), and No. 24 (2025). It's also landed in the World's 50 Best Bars extended and main lists: No. 74 (2022), No. 64 (2023), No. 28 (2024), and No. 50 (2025).

Beyond awards and accolades, the anniversary celebrates and reflects what bars do best: gather people who love and appreciate cocktails, welcome friends and strangers both, and enjoy each other's company.

Happening three weeks from now, there's plenty of time to mark your calendars, invite your friends, and hang out. In their own words, never say they don't jio. Raise a glass to Nutmeg & Clove!

Employees Only Singapore x Dirty Supper, Dirty Sips Takeover This May 12

Dirty Supper Dirty Sips x Employees Only SingaporePhoto by Dirty Supper, Dirty Sips/Instagram

Employees Only Singapore is about to get a little dirty — just enough to make a weeknight exciting in the best way possible.

Dirty Supper and Dirty Sips will take over the cocktail bar for one night only on May 12, 2026, bringing with them a joint food and drink menu to Employees Only from 6 to 9 PM.

This collaboration, "two teams, one menu," will pair the New York-born bar's polished hospitality with Dirty Supper's produce-driven cooking and Dirty Sips' savory, kitchen-led cocktails.

Reservations are recommended for the event, which is sponsored by Dyspatchr.

For the May 12 event, the Employees Only Singapore side of the menu includes cocktails priced at S$24 each, such as the "Tomato Nose," made with Teremana Blanco Tequila, tomato shrub, Giffard Crème de Pêche liqueur, and Perrier soda. There's also the "Acai Atelier," with Wheatley Vodka, house-made acai green tea, hibiscus cordial, honey syrup, and egg white. "Texas Spring Sour" brings a different vibe with Buffalo Trace Bourbon, lemon juice, clarified apple juice, cinnamon syrup, orange bitters, and chardonnay. Lastly, "Hi-Octane" delivers high energy with Nusa Cana Dark Rum, Rosso Vermouth, Dry Curacao, chocolate bitters, and Angostura bitters.

The home turf food menu consists of Sourdough & Kajmak (S$12), Chili Crab Bao with picked cucumber and fried Man Tou (S$22), Grilled Endive with green herb Aioli, and almond crumble (S$16), Canadian Pork Cap with Mojo Verde and Jus (S$22), and EO B&J with vanilla gelato, cookie dough, and chocolate chip (S$22).

Dirty Sips is bringing their own cocktails (also at S$24 per glass) and food menu. Cocktails include the "Picked Lemon Martini" with Mr. Boston Dry Gin, picked lemon brine, and Baldoria Umami. There's also the "White Boy Negroni," with Mr. Boston Dry Gin, micro shiso, picked apricot, and Vinho Verde; as well as the "Going Bananas," with Buffalo Trace Bourbon, carrot brown butter, banana, and Peychaud's bitters. Tequila and mezcal lovers will enjoy "Chef's Water," which mixes Teremana Blanco Tequila, Cacao Mezcal, yellow bell pepper, habanero, white chocolate, sonic, and dairy. Lastly, the "Black Garlic and Honey Sour" is a curious mix of Los Vecinos Mezcal Espadin, black garlic and honey, and citrus.

When it comes to their food menu, Dirty Supper is keeping things exciting with Pig Head Croquette with white anchovy (S$16), Forgotten Carrot with whipped feta and buckwheat (S$16), Smoked Mackerel with fried chicken skin (S$18), Raw Prawn with macadamia, pickled watermelon rind, and cucumber (S$22), and Lamb Tartare with water chestnut, leeks, and picked chili (S$22).

The one-night partnership brings together two names with strong personalities. Employees Only, which first opened in downtown New York in 2004, has built a reputation as one of the modern cocktail world's defining hospitality bars. Its Singapore outpost opened in June 2016, a tropical sister to its city counterpart. Tucked behind a fortune teller's lair, the bar has since become a fixture in the city-state's drinking scene, with recognition from Asia's 50 Best Bars, Asia's 10 Best Bars, and World's Top 500 Bars.

On the other hand, Dirty Supper, spearheaded by Chef-Owner Peter Smit, champions whole animal cooking, grilling, and unexpected ingredient pairings. The restaurant's ever-changing menu is intentionally lean, guided by what produce is available on the day.

Dirty Sips, the beverage side of the Dirty Supper kitchen, continues to bring that philosophy into their glasses. Their bar program focuses on creative cocktails that incorporate elements from the kitchen, savory, and just as unexpected. They also serve wines spanning established and lesser-known regions, sustainable and minimalist producers, and craft beers from artisanal breweries.

For updates and more information, follow Employees Only Singapore, Dirty Supper, and Dirty Sips on Instagram. You can also visit Employees Only Singapore's website and Dirty Supper's website.

Willow SG, Akar KL Team Up for 'Boys in the Jungle' Four Hands Dinner

Instagram Nicolas Tam Akar KLPhoto by Instagram/ Nicolas Tam | Akar KL/ Instagram

For two nights this May 2026, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur will meet together for a four-hands dinner that blends rainforest foraging and fine-dining elegance.

Willow Restaurant Singapore is set to host Chef Aidan Low of Akar Kuala Lumpur for "Boys in the Jungle," a four-hands dinner this May 22 and 23, 2026.

Priced at S$338++ per person, the limited-run collaboration brings together two chefs with distinct, but complementary approaches to ingredient-led cuisine.

The dinner pairs Aidan, whose restaurant Akar was newly awarded one MICHELIN star, with Willow's Chef Nicolas Tam, whose contemporary pan-Asian restaurant also earned one MICHELIN star from 2023 to 2025.

At the heart of the event is a shared focus on terroir, seasonality, and fresh, native produce. Akar's menu draws inspiration from Malaysia's local ingredients, wild herbs, and indigenous produce. "Akar" means "root" in Malay — underscoring the restaurant's dedication to exploring the country's "mega-diverse ecosystem" and multicultural exchange.

Willow, on the other hand, celebrates seasonal ingredients through a modern, pan-Asian dining lens. They begin with strong produce brought to life with layers of technique, texture, and balance. Tam's "quiet precision with playful flavor" is shaped by Asian influences and is refined through French technique.

Diners can expect a menu that moves through "the richness of Malaysia's indigenous landscape and Asian ingredients," a dialogue between two culinary philosophies.

Aside from being "a shared journey across kitchens, discipline, and land," the dinner is also a friendly collaboration. With the cheeky event title, "Boys in the Jungle," these two chefs are taking diners through the rainforest, giving them access to one of Malaysia's compelling contemporary culinary voices — all within the heart of Singapore.

Best Brunch Restaurants and Cafes in Singapore

Best Brunch Restaurants in SG 1

As a highly modernized country, Singapore is also one of the busiest in the world. Sometimes, however, even the busiest and most workaholic people crave slow mornings from time to time. That makes brunch dates (with loved ones or perhaps by yourself) an important reminder for us to take things slow and let the day unravel on its own.

Known for its state-of-the-art infrastructure and modern architecture, and often referred to as the “Garden City,” much of the city-state’s beauty could be attributed to its abundance of green spaces and clean environment. And they happen to have some of the best spots for brunch, too! Below, we’ve put together a list of the best brunch restaurants and cafes in Singapore for days that are less hectic — because, hey, you deserve those slow, late mornings, too.

              Fika Swedish Cafe and Bistro

Singapore boasts a lot of coffee spots, but there are arguably only a few that deserve a second visit (more than twice, even), and that includes Frankie & Fern’s. Perched at the rooftop of Holland Road Shopping Centre, it is only accessible by the elevator, and it’s quite difficult to locate. But once you do, it will be a worthy discovery. It’s also highly regarded for its impressive menu offerings.

The restaurant's menu differs during weekdays and weekends, but their brunch menu (available on weekdays) features Roasted Short Rib Toast (S$23), Fern’s Avocado Toast (S$19), Ribeye Steak and Eggs (S$34), and Frankie’s Breakfast (S$28). AiFOKATO Reimagines Florentine Affogato and Viral Desserts in Singapore

AiFOKATO, a new dessert and coffee concept inspired by Florence’s affogato culture, has officially opened at Telok Ayer, introducing a new and personalized way to enjoy the classic Italian treat.

Located at 111 Telok Ayer Street, AiFOKATO blends artisanal gelato with coffee craftsmanship and Asian dessert trends.

Guests can enjoy sculpted gelato paired with freshly poured espresso, matcha, or chocolate, or opt for the visually layered “-86 Dirty Coffee,” a hot-over-cold drink that’s almost like the ongoing “dirty coffee” craze sweeping over Asia.

The menu also features Butter Mochi, also known as Butter Tteok — a soft, chewy, and buttery dessert that’s popular in South Korea — alongside a curated selection of gelato flavors including Madagascar vanilla, pistachio, matcha, and dark chocolate.

With natural wood accents, smooth neutral walls, and subtle designs, the interiors place the focus on the artistry of the desserts and coffee.

The concept also positions itself as a quick yet considered pause in Singapore’s fast-paced rhythm, offering an interactive and personalized dessert experience on the go.

              Must-Visit Food Markets in Singapore

Must Visit Food Markets in SG

Often referred to as the “Garden City,” Singapore is renowned for its clean and ultra-modern cityscape. It’s also no secret that it is home to a vast array of food options. From bustling hawker centres to traditional wet markets, you’ll surely have your cravings satisfied in this vibrant, bustling city-state.

It’s a given that Singapore is a beautiful, technologically advanced city-state. However, it can also be really expensive. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or have explored Singapore a few times already, knowing your way around some budget-friendly finds is always a must, especially when it comes to food.

In this article, we’ve rounded up some of the best food markets in Singapore, where quality and affordability meet.

              Maxwell Food Centre

              Maxwell Food Centre
              Photo from Website/Chinatown Singapore

You know the area serves good dishes when it frequently has long queues — so let the heavy crowd speak for itself. Maxwell Food Centre is a go-to spot for authentic Singaporean flavor, often considered a favorite place for tourists and locals alike, with Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice standing out as a crowd favorite.

One downside about Maxwell Food Centre, however, is that you’ll often find the spot packed with massive crowds. But sometimes, a quality, well-priced meal requires a little bit of waiting (sometimes even a long wait). Despite that, you’re always guaranteed a “worth the wait” moment. And if you really want to try the food but don’t want the hassle of a long queue, it’s best to visit the area outside of peak hours.

Location: Maxwell Food Centre, 1 Kadayanallur Street, 069184

              Old Airport Road

              Old Airport Road
Photo from Facebook/51 Old Airport Road Food Centre

One of the beloved hawker centers in Singapore, Old Airport Road takes pride not only in its longevity but also in some of the best stalls you can only find in the area. After all, in a space with over 100 stalls, it’s nearly impossible not to find a spot that will best match your cravings. And it’s considerably away from heavy crowds, so if you want a more subdued dining experience, this spot might be the best option for you.

Having been around since the 1970s, Old Airport Road wasn’t only a place with many food stalls — it’s also one that carries deep, cultural significance. Some of the most-recommended stalls include Western Barbeque, Cho Kee Noodle, Whitley Road Big Prawn Noodles, Xin Mei Xiang Lor Mee, Xiang Ji Lor Mee, Qiu Rong Ban Mian, and more.

Location: Old Airport Road, 51 Old Airport Road, 390051

              Tiong Bahru Food Centre

              Tiong Bahru Food Centre
              Photo from Website/Tiong Bahru Market

Tiong Bahru Food Centre has established a reputation as one of the cleanest food markets in Singapore, and it serves some of the best dishes too, especially its breakfast offerings. Similar to the first two entries, the food market is also known for serving authentic Singaporean food.

A visit to Tiong Bahru could evoke a nostalgic feeling, as it is one of the oldest residential neighborhoods in Singapore. Of course, you may also want to try the food market while you’re at it. Some of its famous hawker delights include Lor Mee 178, Hong Heng Fried Sotong Prawn Mee, Tiong Bahru Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice, and Jian Bo Shui Kueh.

Location: Tiong Bahru Food Centre, 30 Seng Poh Road, 168898

              Golden Mile Food Centre

Photo from Facebook/Golden Mile Food Centre

Golden Mile Food Centre, also known as Beach Road Army Market, has been around since the 1970s and has continued to serve great dishes — for both locals and tourists — to this day. Located on the opposite side of the Golden Mile Complex (which most tourists often confuse with the actual hawker centre), it is also known for its variety of stalls that offer a wide range of affordable and authentic local cuisine.

With food options ranging from Indian, Indonesian, Malay, and Chinese delicacies, some of the must-try stalls in the area include Fried Kway Teow Mee, Keng Heng Whampoa Teochew Lor Mee, Flourful Delight, and Zhao An Granny Grass Jelly, among a handful of others.

Location: Golden Mile Food Centre, 505 Beach Road, 199583

              Lau Pa Sat

              Lau Pa Sat
              Photo from Facebook/Lau Pa Sat

Hailed as one of the most popular hawker centers in Singapore, Lau Pa Sat is perfect for food crawlers coming in late at night, as some stalls operate 24 hours a day. An award-winning hawker market, Lau Pa Sat also offers a wide range of food options, from The Viet Kitchen and Briyani Point Indian Food to Chan Ke Mei Shi and so much more.

While most stalls in the area are definitely must-tries, one of the main reasons why people flock to Lau Pa Sat is Satay Street, Singapore’s largest open-air street catered for satay lovers. The place is a great spot for someone wanting to immerse themselves in Singapore’s rich culinary heritage, all while enjoying grilled satay skewers sizzling over the lively, busy street.

Location: Lau Pa Sat, 18 Raffles Quay, 048582

              Chinatown Complex Food Centre

Photo from Facebook/Chinatown Complex Food Centre

As one of the largest food markets in Singapore, Chinatown Complex Food Centre pretty much has to be on every food lover’s itinerary. With over 200 stalls available, the only downside is that it could be overwhelming, and finding the absolute best might be a challenge, considering the area also boasts some of the best food stalls in Singapore. If you’re already in Chinatown, it’s best to visit its food center, which offers not only great local traditional dishes but affordable ones too.

Options include The 1950s Coffee, Peng Guan, Pan Ji Cooked Food, Chef Leung’s Authentic Hand-milled Rice Noodle Rolls, Claypot and Cooked Food Kitchen, Bedok Chwee Kueh, Shang Hai Fried Xiao Long Bao, and many more.

Valrhona to Launch the World’s First Matcha Couverture Chocolate This 2026

              20260218 matcha inspirationPhoto by Valrhona

The matcha trend isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon — it only gets better.

French chocolate house Valrhona is launching Matcha Inspiration globally in 2026, its newest couverture chocolate created in collaboration with L’École Valrhona Tokyo. Made for professionals, the new product blends cutting-edge technique with premium Japanese matcha, reimagining how matcha green tea is used in modern desserts.

Sourced from first-harvest leaves from Kagoshima, the matcha delivers a naturally vibrant green color, gentle sweetness, and layered umami. Known for its volcanic soil, the region produces some of Japan’s most celebrated green tea — making it the perfect choice for Valrhona’s latest innovation.

Joining Valrhona’s five existing Inspiration couvertures, Matcha Inspiration combines dehydrated fresh fruits and first-class matcha green teas with cocoa butter, delivering a bold aroma, brilliant color, and intense flavorwithout any additives. The result is a couverture that preserves matcha’s delicate aroma and bright hue, while solving challenges such as bitterness, inconsistency, and oxidation.

With its refined 15-micron texture and plant-based formula, the couverture is designed for versatility. It pairs beautifully with flavors like coconut, gianduja, rice pudding, strawberry, black sesame, kinako, and red bean paste, and works seamlessly in bonbons, pastries, plated desserts, and confections. The Matcha Inspiration is also free from dairy, allowing chefs to create more modern menus.

To mark its launch, Valrhona is distributing Matcha Inspiration Discovery Boxes to top chefs across Australia, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand, featuring curated recipes such as the Tokyo Matcha Bar developed by L’École Valrhona Tokyo, which highlights matcha’s versatility and creative potential.

Valrhona’s Matcha Inspiration is more than just a product launch, but a reflection of the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship and experimentation. By turning ceremonial-grade matcha into rich couverture, Valrhona is opening new creative pathways for pastry chefs worldwide —  one where Japanese tradition meets Valrhona technology, and flavor meets feeling.
