There’s no doubt that South Korea has cemented its dominance in pop culture—from the popularity of K-pop groups to the buzz surrounding the latest K-drama. And let’s not forget about the overnight success of “Squid Game,” the dystopian survival drama that launched a thousand memes and became the most-watched debut series in Netflix’s story. So, trust us when we say that if we could hop on a plane and travel anywhere right now, the first place on our list is the land of hallyu—no questions asked.
But with international travels still largely limited (no thanks to the pandemic), we’re nursing our BTS-obsessed hearts by replicating the Korean experience through the closest thing possible: food.
Korean Snacks in a Box
We received a subscription box from Seoulbox, which curates Korean goodies and treats, packs them all in a crate for shipping from the heart of Seoul to anywhere in the world. They brand themselves as the “authentic Korean subscription box” with the goal of bringing the taste of their country to the other side of the globe.
Each box takes a different theme, a process that involves research and thorough planning by the Seoulbox team, spearheaded by founders Suji Sohn and Rah Sathi.
The boxes come in three options: Seoulbox Signature, Seoulbox Life, and Seoulbox V, their halal-certified and vegan-friendly offering.
For the month of November, Seoulbox curated a Wonka Café-themed box as an homage to South Korea’s obsession over coffee.
Ranked as the third largest consumer of coffee in the world, South Korea is a haven for Instagram-worthy cafés and coffee shops. Based on K-Drama alone, we’ve witnessed the first glimpse, first date, and break-up scenes happening within the walls of a coffee shop, including coffee-themed K-dramas such as “Coffee Prince” and “Coffee, Do Me A Favor.”
And as coffee addicts ourselves, we were excited to get our hands on Seoulbox’s café-themed Korean subscription box—including all the 17 items packed in it! The box is also accompanied by a magazine packed with cultural insights and a preview of the snacks and goodies.
What’s Inside the Box?
Savory Snack
Inside the box are two savory snacks: Potato Chip Hot Gobchang, which is inspired by a popular Soju side dish. Gobchang is a fusion of potato chips and spicy beef intestine perfect for your Soju session with friends.
The second one is the dinosaur egg chips. It is hollow like a dinosaur egg, and you can taste a mixture of sweetness, tanginess, and cheesiness in one bite. And very crunchy too!
Mealtime

Nature is Tasty Hong Myun tasted deep by roasting fresh natural ingredients – beef and mushroom. This dish is not only delicious with its chewy and savory noodles but it’s also a perfect meal for the cold or wet season.
Another part of mealtime is the Myeong Ga Gamtae Seaweed which we'd say is a perfect match with anything. It can be made into a seaweed soup, in which Seoulbox provided us with ingredients; it can also be a snack or paired with our favorite, rice!
Sweet Snacks
One of the best parts of the box is the sweet snacks. The Binch Caffe Mocha is a chocolate biscuit with a coffee twist. For coffee and chocolate lovers, this is surely a treat. The Margaret Baked Mocha Cookie is best paired with milk or coffee, and it will transport you to the mocha buns you smell on the subway stations across Seoul.
If you've watched the K-Drama "Doom At Your Service," you’ve probably seen this snack eaten by Park Bo-Young’s character. The Five Grains Cocoa Balls Bar is a chewy but soft energy bar that's good even for breakfast.
Mon Cher Cake Salty Peanut is another good pair for coffee, because who wouldn’t love a cake covered in caramel and chocolate, with hints of peanut?
The last sweet snack from Seoulbox's Signature box is the Jeju Tangerine Chocolate Pepero. If you’ve tried other variants of Pepero, this one is also a must-try.
Treats

There are four treats inside this Wonka Café-themed box. The Arabica Coffee Gum is a unique treat because the gum has that smokey, sweet Arabic flavor that you won’t find anywhere else.
The Dream Cacao is one for the books; it is made of 72% cacao and this dark chocolate cube is very rich in flavor that melts in your mouth. The Coffee Peanut is another great treat to munch on while you’re working or studying, but best for drinking sessions with soju or beer.
Jaws Watermelon Jellies have orange, strawberry, and watermelon flavors that kids and kids-at-heart will enjoy.
Drinks
A cup of joe is all you need to boost your energy level.
The Wonka Café-themed box comes with a BTS Hot Brew Vanilla Latte. This brew will introduce you to the Wonka Café world with the richness of coffee with milk and vanilla extract.
It also comes with one sachet of Maxim Mocha Latte, great for a pick-me-up drink for gloomy days.
The Goodies

The Wonka Café-themed box comes with Propolis Ener-G Ampoule Mask which is 100% vegan, helping your skin look healthier and clearer with its honey extracts and propolis.
The box also comes with a cute plush toy inspired by BTS, and it is a cute addition to your subscription.
