The Beat Stays: Wynn Palace, Macau’s Essence Reimagined for Las Vegas’ Twin
Wynn Palace is one of two Wynn properties operated by the American casino-resorts consortium, providing a refreshing Western approach to hotelling in multicultural Macau. The Beat Asia enjoyed the luxury of refined dining and service at Wynn’s Cotai domicile for a refreshing one-night stay.
Venue & Neighbourhood
Wynn Palace is positioned towards the eastern part of Cotai, beyond the crowding of other resorts, existing in bliss and serenity. Contrary to the Chinese-owned resorts in Macau, the Wynn Palace uniquely blends the extravagance of American hotelling with Chinese elements.
Arrive at night and you will see Wynn Palace in its naturally boisterous nature: flashy with a bright light and water show every quarter of an hour, and a golden-Greek white-black facade that embodies the experience of a Wynn stay. Palatial living is expected at the residence, matched with dining fit for a king.
The Room
On our arrival in the early evening, we were shown to our room, an expansive Executive Suite, housing four unique spaces catering to our needs of entertainment, relaxation, and prepping. The living room, bedroom, powder room, and bathroom each can easily fit a bachelor in Hong Kong!
The suite holds a spacious living room paired with a gigantic HD television for resting between dining and enjoying drinks. The master bath in the washroom was a perfect portal to send us to an ethereal realm, before sinking deep in our plush bed to kill the night off.
The king-sized bed in the executive suite was an immediate highlight for us. The Italian cotton on the sheets, duvet, and pillows caressed our skin with love. The bed can easily fit two adults, or young kids in the middle for family getaways.
Amenities
Wynn takes pride in its award-winning gastronomy, and rightfully so. The resort is home to several Michelin-starred and Black Pearl-awarded venues, from the esteemed SW Steakhouse and Mizumi to Lakeview Palace (formerly Wing Lei Palace).
Dinner served at Lakeview Palace is exquisite and serves as a prime example of the strength of Jiangnan cuisine, encompassing Shanghainese plates. We were offered stir-fried frog and smoked pigeon for the first time, much to our pleasure for the memorable smoky and gamey bites. The resident sommelier is kind to non-oenophiles, explaining notes to match each bite.
Unfortunately, we missed our opportunity to dip into the pool, as the expansive sundeck does not open on weekdays before 1 PM. Wynn Palace’s spa is a notable great in Macau, winning Forbes 5 Star recognition and providing both Chinese and Western spa treatments.
Experiences
Nighttime is where Wynn Palace shines the brightest. It is no surprise that the resort’s special light and water show is a major attraction for many tourists on the Cotai strip. It crowds around the Wynn lake to marvel in the spectacle. We got specials front and centre at the Lakeview Palace to view the magic.
Towering above the lake is Wynn Palace’s revolving gondola, another key feature for the resort, which brings guests in Cotai and the hotel to soak up views of the spouting water and lights of the casino strip.
Check-Out Thoughts
Wynn Palace serves well to offer a getaway unique to its competing neighbours and Macau resorts. Held within the resort's American history and management, service is sublime, outlook of luxury recreation is top, and dining truly ranks in top three in the Cotai area.
We recommend a stay at Wynn Palace for adventurous travellers to soak up the multiple offerings of regional Chinese food and families seeking a more intimate Cotai getaway.
