October 24, 2023
First announced in May of this year, Christie's Hong Kong revealed an extraordinary collaboration with none other than the global superstar and avid art collector, Jay Chou. This autumn, the Post-Millennium Evening Sale will set the stage for a unique celebration of art and culture, deeply influenced by Jay Chou's distinct perspective spanning across art, music, film, and more.
In his role as curator, Jay expressed his excitement, sharing that "I am looking forward to showcasing some of the most talented and promising emerging artists from around the world... Every one of the next generation of artists could be a future great artist. I would like to inspire them and be a guide throughout this journey as I myself have traversed this path."
Among the artists whose works will grace the auction are names like Adrian Ghenie, Dana Schutz, Loie Hollowell, Jadé Fadojutimi, and Huang Yuxing, representing a diverse and dynamic range of contemporary talent from across the globe.
Evelyn Lin, Deputy Chairman and Co-Head of the 20th and 21st Century Art Department at Christie’s Asia Pacific, expressed the significance of this collaboration, lauding Jay Chou as “a global luminary.” Lin goes on to say that “We are honoured to infuse this autumn’s Post-Millennium Evening sale with his distinct and pioneering vision. The diversity of this sale coupled with Jay’s international influence will appeal across generations, and provide a unique opportunity for young and budding as well as established collectors to acquire a piece of artistry that reflects our ever-evolving world.”
The stage for this artistic extravaganza is none other than the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, where the Post-Millennium Evening Sale will take place this Nov. 28.
