Capella Bangkok Tops List of World’s Best 50 Hotels
The World's 50 Best Hotels 2024 list was recently unveiled, showcasing the finest and most luxurious stays across the globe! This year, Capella Bangkok takes the top spot!
The list celebrates hotels from 37 destinations across six continents and highlights outstanding experiences that will ultimately shape the aspirations of consumers, travelers, and hoteliers worldwide. Whether you’re seeking a beachfront sanctuary for that much-needed RnR or a contemporary escape in the middle of a bustling city, these destinations are the pinnacle of hospitality and world-class experiences.
Capella Bangkok climbed 10 places from its previous spot in 2023. The 5-star luxury hotel in Thailand boasts panoramic views of the majestic Chao Phraya River with over 101 suites and villas offering both intimacy and immersion. This urban oasis makes for the perfect stay and combines the beauty of nature and modern elegance of a contemporary property.
In second place is Passalacqua, which is set in an 18th-century villa on the edge of Italy’s famed Lake Como. This gorgeous hotel is also the winner of this year’s Carlo Alberto Best Boutique Hotel Award.
Asia is leading the way in the hotels space with over 19 properties ranked, including four in Bangkok: Capella Bangkok (No.1), Mandarin Oriental Bangkok (No.12), Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River (No.14) and The Siam (No.26), while Hong Kong also boasts two hotels on the list ranked in the top 5: Rosewood Hong Kong and The Upper House (No.5). The popular Raffles Singapore comes in at No. 6, and Japan has three hotels featured, including this year’s Nikka Best New Hotel Award 2024 awardee, Bulgari Tokyo (No.22).
Europe boasts 13 outstanding hotels, with France, the UK and Italy each featuring four properties, including Cheval Blanc Paris (No.4), Claridge's (No.11) in London and Four Seasons Firenze (No.19).
North America has nine hotels on the list including best North American hotel Chablé Yucatán (No.16) in Mexico. Oceania and Africa each boast four hotels on the list, such as The Calile (No.25) in Brisbane and Mount Nelson (No.28) in Cape Town, a new entry on the list that also won the Best Hotel in Africa.
Other notable awards at the ceremony include the SevenRooms Icon Award which was given to Sonia Cheng, CEO of Rosewood Hotel Group and Maldives’ Soneva Fushi (No.8) wins the Lost Explorer Best Beach Hotel Award for a second year running.
