Nocino Swiss-Italian Gastronomy Gem Soft-opens in Tai Hang
Nestled in the dynamic Tai Hang neighbourhood, Nocino marks its presence as a Swiss-Italian culinary concept a rarely encountered in Hong Kong. Currently undergoing a soft-opening, the restaurant will launch with a grand flourish later in January.
This unique dining destination is the brainchild of Matthew Ziemski, a seasoned F&B expert with an impressive tenure as a chef in London. Named after a traditional liqueur, which is a blend of grappa and walnuts crafted by Matthew's uncle, Nocino embodies the convivial and celebratory ethos of the grotto-style restaurant.
The menu at Nocino spotlights freshly made pasta, complemented by an array of traditional Swiss delights. Highlights include items like the rich Beef Shin Ragu Casarecce, where Swiss authenticity shines through. Wagyu Beef Tartare is presented with a Swiss twist and the signature Malakoff fritters reveals a gruyere cheese fondue heart. Nocino's pride also extends to its exclusive selection of rare Swiss cheeses and cured meats.
The cocktail selection, like the Clear Day in Maggiore, Ticino Spritz, and Grotto Negroni, reflects the uniqueness of the Swiss-Italian border. The wine list is a treasure trove of rare Swiss wines, featuring selections like the Rovere, Baiocco Merlot and Santa Sofia, Soave.
The ambiance of Nocino is designed to transport guests to a traditional Grotto, with wood elements, antiques, and an open kitchen. The dog-friendly outdoor standing drinking area adds to the relaxed and inviting atmosphere that transports guests to the plein air of the alps.
